My dusk to dawn light makes loud buzzing sound why?

Question edited for clarity, added a few Capital letters and 'light' instead of the American spelling of something that is not 'full fat' or 'full featured', or in other words 'lite'..

Remove the plates and the light and reinstall them, making sure they are fully locked home. Some buzzing is normal as the electricity generates the negative ions and the electrostatically charged plates attract dust , pollens and allergens.

over heating its self, it could be a blocked and not getting the right air flow or the sensor for the heat control is on its way out. check the filter if this model has one remove all dust from the intake, check that the fan is working, if the motor has been making any buzzing or funny sounds this can be the problem too. buzzing is the starter motor humming or clicking the motor is failing.

The light itself is likely bright enough to trip the photo cell back off. Rinse and repeat...

got the same problem except that when sq. ft. dial is moved to the off position, the sounds goes away

Hi, it sounds to me like a relay of some type buzzing? I would see if you can remove the control cover to excess all component's, after you unplug it 1st, and then plug them back in and try and locate this buzzing sound? Funny, both are doing it? They have lasted a decade, and you have kept them up. Let me know if you locate this noise, and we can go from there.

Sounds like the filter is damaged or has bent fins.Make sure all the fins are not touching eachother, or they will arch and keep buzzing and flashing.Also there is a wire on the incoming air side of the filter(between each fin) to precharge the particales entering the filter .make sure the wires are not broken.good luck--Nate

A faint buzzing sound is normal - - that's the high-voltage plasma discharge simulating lightning in a thunderstorm. If the room is dark you should be able to see a faint bluish-purple glow of the metal grid on the plate(s) inside. This should somewhat louder as you increase the setting.

It should not really be so loud that is stands out in the background of normal noises (refrigerator running for example). If the buzz is loud - - like something is shorting-out internally (loud crackling sound), that would signal a different problem - - I'd need more details about what you're observing. Approximate purchase day, specific model, number of plates, general condition of the interior would all be helpful if you deem the buzz to be too loud for normal operation.
