Was running fine last week when i parked it . started it and it died started it again and it was smoking like it had flooded took off filters and started again and found after it ran for a few seconds fule came shooting out of tube that comes from valve cover to breather.
Check to see if your oil dipstick smells like gasoline. Take a match and see if it lights on your dipstick. If it does then there is gas in your oil. My lawn mower is gravity feed, 19HP Kohler riding mower, and not used all the time. Gas leaked down from my carb into the crankcase. When started it would run, then blow out blue smoke and almost die, then repeat itself. I added a manual gas shut off valve on the fuel hose coming from my fuel tank and changed my oil and filter. Now it runs fine.
The fuel pump is driven by vacuum from the engine so it could just be a bad pump
SOURCE: carb full of gas
sounds like the float is sticking inside the carberator might need new needle and seat as wel as a float check to see if float is gas logged
SOURCE: Self-Propelled Model Starts, then dies after about 15 seconds
I posted same problem as this couple days ago. Took mower to shop. The governor spring (located just under the air filter) had come off. So glad it was something so minor!
clean out fuel line then make sure the carb is getting gas
