Spinner (white part that washes the clothes) will not move

I can hear the motor running but the spinner (the white part that washes the clothes) will not was or spin at all. I am sure it is not the motor. I tried turning it but it will not turn. I believe somthing may be stuck under there. How can I remove the spinner?

SOURCE: removing agitator

Sometimes small articles of clothing can manage to get between the inner spin basket and outer wash tub. This is NOT common, however. If this were the case the memory stick you mentioned, would end up lodged in the drain pump. There would be a noticeable noise from the impeller hitting it and it may cause the pump to fail, resulting in drainage problems. More than likely, its right where you suspect it is. To remove the agitator, do the following:

1. Remove the center cap or dispenser from the agitator.
2. Under the cap or dispenser is another plastic cap with a pull handle on it. Lift this cap out by pulling straight up, exposing the agitator mounting bolt.
3. Loosen the agitator bolt using a socket and ratchet. Once removed, grasp the entire agitator assembly by the bottom flanges and lift straight up. The entire agitator should come out.

NOTE: When reinstalling the agitator make sure you DO NOT overtighten the mounting bolt or it can cause damage to the agitator and restrict the movement. Good and "snug" is the rule of thumb.

Searspartsdirect.com has an excellent exploded view diagram of your agitator and components if you need a good reference. Just type in your COMPLETE model number and look under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub Parts" heading.

I hope you find what you're looking for and hope this helps you in some way. If you require additional assistance, please let me know.

SOURCE: Kenmore 90 series agitation problem

suppose to not spin unitl the lid is closed( safety reasons) the reason for the "weak agitation " is a bad set of agitator dogs. by removing the center fabric softener cup, you can get to and unscrew the center shaft bolt7/16. after removing the bolt, the agitaor will remove and the agitator dogs canbe replaced. part number 80040.youll need to split the agitator top and bottom to insall them . they simply slide into place.

Defy twin tub 800. Why is the washer drain water filling up spinner drum?

The 'flat black round rubber' part is a non return valve so that water can't flow back washer to spinner, or spinner to washer. That part needs replacing. These machines are not available to us in North America, but this link should work well for you.

Kenmore agitates doenst spin

You will have to look at the inside of the washer when in spin cycle to see what is going on. Is the spinner motor not engaging the drum? Is the spinner working at all? It sounds like the spinner isn't being moved against the drum before the spin cycle starts. Most washers use a seperate spinner motor, which is lifted off the drum by a relay and / or solenoid and if one or more of those is malfunctioning, it will cause your described problem.

My washer had stopped spinning about two weeks ago, we replaced thecoupler and it worked fine but today it stopped spinning again

1
Unplug the washing machine, and turn off the water supply to the machine. If necessary, remove the water hoses from the back of the washing machine because they may be in the way of the access panel.
2
Check that the agitator is seated correctly by opening the lid of the washing machine. If it's loose, pop off the top of the agitator--if there is one--and tighten the bolt that holds the agitator in place. Or, in some models, simply pull straight up and then reseat the agitator.
3
Remove the access panel located in the back of the washing machine by unscrewing the screws holding it in place. This allows access to the drive motor.
4
Press on the drive belt that works the agitator. If the belt moves more than 3/4 inch, tighten the belt to fix the spinner problem. If the belt is worn or cracked, replace the belt.
5
Replace the drive motor, if tightening or replacing the drive belt doesn't fix the agitator. Purchase a new drive motor at a wholesale retailer. Disconnect wiring, remove screws holding motor in place and insert new motor. Screw into place, and connect wiring.
6
Check for any black substance leaking under the washing machine. This might indicate a clutch problem, if the washing machine spinner is not working. Contact a professional repairman to replace the clutch.

The washing machine is not spinning out the clothes. They have replaced belts, transmission and brakes. It seems worse now than it was.

Is there any hamming sound whenever you try to run the spinner?

try to remove the cover of the body where you can access the motor, don't touch it just look carefully and listen as you try to turn it ON, see if you can hear any soud (hamming, click, a little movement)

If yes then maybe your belt is to tight, have it loosen a little bit.

But if there is none, then have it check the capacitor, maybe there is no power coming to your motor, power is being supported by your capacitor (small aluminun tube that on top of it you can see some wire connection

1999 Neptune washer stopped in middle of cycle

sounds like the belt from the ele. motor to the wash drum broke. This can happen from over loading the washer or just wear and tear (lots of loads). Did you save the owners manual? It will give you a break down of the machine and contacts to get parts.
