SOURCE: Can't change temperature

If the freezer is staying cold it sounds like a defrost system problem. A bad timer, heater or thermostat can cause frost to build up on the coils and block air flow to the refrig side. Check out ACMEHowTo.com for troubleshooting the defroster problem

Can't adjust trisensor climate control. Stuck at 0 and 38 and is freezing things in fridge compartment.

It's a Jenn-Air, you will need a service call. They are totally electronic and very complex. Look in the manual first as there may be a child lock function on the controls. It sounds like a thermister has failed though which is a temperature control device. It shouldn't freeze at 38'F, 6' above freezing.

Will the 8201555 compressor be an adequate replacement?

Hi,

According to the information from your model number given the compressor should be 8201557 but that changes to W1039990 this is a complete kit. But if your good at changing this you can use a FF8.5HBK compressor which will be about a third of the cost. I hope this helps. Good Luck

Jenn air refrigerator jcd2389ges freezes fridge

Bea, try this. UNPLUG the refrigerator for 12 hours and keep the fridge and freezer doors open. You might lose some food. NOW you will find some water under the fridge. clean that and now power up the fridge. Make sure you hear the motor working. Your fridge will start cooling. Keep at recommended temp.

Fridge side is 24 degrees and it is set at 38

You have 2 possibilities here

1) the thermister(electronic thermostat) is off range and sending incorrect info to the control

2)the damper(located in the upper left wall of the ref) is stuck open even after the thermister says its at the right temp. so too much cold air is being circulated

Water in the door has slowed to a trickle -- new filter makes no difference

You are probably looking at a bad water inlet solenoid. Follow the line going into back of fridge. It goes into the solenoid, or valve that turns on the water when you push the lever.
