I have (it appears in 'Info') at least 1.4 GB on MP3s on my player. However, while they appeared to be recognised and work fine when I originally turned the device on, the second time, they seemed to have vanished. They still take up the space though. When I plug the player into my computer, both Media Player and the actual driver recognise that there are songs on the player.COuld anyone shed some light on what is going on? Any and all help appreciated, thanks!
Your Sansa E250 player comes in two modes -- MTP (Music Transfer Protocol) and MSC (Mass Storage Class). When you save songs on one of these modes, they would not be recognized by the other mode and vice versa. The reason for that is because the MTP mode is used for subscription music while the MSC mode is generally to allow your MP3 player to functions as a "Flash Drive", a regular mass storage device. To test if this is what's actually happening to your player, try each mode and see if you'll be able to "view" the songs when plugged in your computer: 1. Go to the modes on your E250 by navigating the player: Menu > Settings > USB Mode 2. When you've selected a mode, browse the player in your "Windows Explorer". Note: MTP mode will give you an icon of the E250 (player will be recognized as a Portable Audio Device) while MSC mode will have a Drive Letter (player will be recognized as a "Removable Drive") 3. Make sure that your Windows Explorer is configured to "Show all Hidden Files and Folders". To do this, access your Explorer's menu: Tools > Folder Options > "View" tab > enable "Show Hidden Files and Folders" You should be able to find the music files (or picture/video files for that matter) that have been taking up 1.4GB If you'd like to free up this 1.4GB, you may want to Format the player under MSC mode. To do that, right-click on the Drive Letter corresponding to your E250 in Windows Explorer, then select "Format". Follow the on-screen prompts and that should reset your player back to its original free space. Let me know if this helps. I may be able to offer some more solutions based on the result of the procedures above. Let's keep your Sansa E250 playin' :)
