The set will need to be serviced, you could have a t-con board failure or bad ribbon cable connection to the t-con. Get a good diagnoses done to be sure of where the problem lies

SOURCE: black vertical lines on flat screen

All plasma an lcd tvs have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times reseating the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They can sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, and the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em. Good luck.

SOURCE: Sharp aquos has green and white vertical lines

You must contact a svc co. This is a upper or lower buffer board problem and possibly a control board. Nothing you have done wrong, it just happened.

SOURCE: 42 inch samsung plasma tv black vertical lines

Hi, Depeending on the thickness of the lines matters. If the lines are Black and about 1-2 inches thick it may be a bad bottom buffer board or a bad panel (screen).
If the lines are thin 1/16 to 1/8 inch it is most likely a bad panel.
You can open up the set and depending on the model, see the thin board/boards running across the bottom with ribbon cables going to the panel. You may be able to attempt reseating the ribbon cables, but be careful as some retainer plugs break very easy.
If the lines are thick black and the reseating doesn't correct it you may be able to buy the coresponding buffer. Unfortunately some bottom buffers are actually part of the panel. If you are not comfortable taking it apart then call a professional but be aware labor charges start around $200 not counting parts, panels start at $600 up to over $1000
hope this helps
Thanks
Eric

SOURCE: Vertical black line on the screen of my 42" Magnavox flat panel lcd tv

I wish I could post a solution, but I don't have one. I too have a Magnavox. About 6 months ago, once every 2 weeks or so, the screen would just go black- all but an inch or two on either side. Now, it seems like it's a weekly thing, sometimes every hour or two. As of tonight, it has happened twice in a matter of thirty minutes. It usually repairs itself if I turn it on and then off again but that's just not working anymore. If anyone has a solution, let me know.

What should i do,model number below has vertical lines on half of the screen, any suggestions?

If they are blurry lines, likely you have a problem with heat damaging the diffuser plate behind the LCD. Unfortunately, there is no fix to this other than to replace the screen, which is as much as the same TV used. It's usually caused from the vents in the back of the tv getting clogged with dust/debris/smoke and the power inverter overheats. It causes the screen to develop a line on one side of the screen, then it starts to look like the screen was washed with something and you get black streaks running from the top which usually is accompanied by a darkened blurry "cloud".

Right side of screen blurry with lines-TH-42PX75U

Check the site linked below, and compare the screen shots. It has many kind of defective screen-shots to plasma displays. Compare them to that of yours, and make sure about the faulty board or others. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Lines in right side of screen

You have a board connected on the side and another on top.. the board controls your horisontal lines and your side board controls your vertical.. Afte using the television for some time the board gets very hot and the solder gets damaged. You get what is called cold solder preventing the electrical current to pass. You need to retouch with solder but do it carefully. its best if you know some one with soldering experience. That will solve your problem. you can get more details at www.bestdirectorysolutions.com

Dark lines on the sscreen

This indicates that there are bad connections in the cabling going to the display panel. Usually there are tiny connections along the top of the panel that rely upon pressure to hold the contact material to the panel contact and if the assembly is not right, gaps form in the picture like you describe. Sometimes just sqeezing on the units cabinet in the area of the gaps is enough to affect the problem. May need to go inside and work on the contact assembly.

Dark vertical lines on tv screen

If under warranty then of course use that.
This is a display problem. One solution someone knowledgeable in electronics can try.
This problem can be caused by a bad connection fitting of the flat cables on LCD controller board. Dis-connect the flat cables from the LCD controller(T-CON) and carefully reconnect them. Try the unit before reassembling the back cover. You may have to disconnect/reconnect several times to show improvements if this is the problem.
