Answering machine service not working. It is switched on.
Callers leaving messages are answered by a female voice we did not put in the "answering recording." Our answering message is still there, however that is not what callers hear. And there are no messages left on our answering maching. I have checked the on/off and it is "ON," I have rebooted the power, no help. We recently changed phone service from Charter to AT&T, can that be a problem?

Sounds like your service provider(Verizon) has your phone line setup to forward to voicemail on no answer after 2 rings. Call your service provider's customer service number and request that the number of rings for forward no answer be increased to at least 5, then your answer machine can receive and answer your calls after 4 rings but if your line is busy callers can leave a message with your Verizon voicemail service. If you don't want Verizon voicemail to answer any of your calls, you could have them disable the voicemail service. When you call the service provider have a recent bill ready because they may request your account number before they will make any changes.
In reading this issue I am not sure if you are referring to your voicemail that is provided by your cellular provider, or if cell phone callers are unable to leave a message on your land line answering machine, so I will answer both of those just incase. If you are referring to your cellular service and callers are not able to leave you a voice message, then there could be a couple of issues at hand here. The first of which is that your voice mail box may be full and cannot accept any more messages, If this is the case then you will need to delete some of the older messages by pressing and holding # 1 on your wireless handset and selecting the messages that you want to delete from the voicemail system. If that is not the issue then you will need to place a test call to your cellular device and let it rollover to voicemail and see what it is that the callers are being told. Sometimes there will be an error message. If this is the case then you will want to write that message information down and contact your service provider so that they can resolve the issue. If you call your cellular device and let it rollover to voicemail and the system tells you to enter the subscribers telephone or mailbox number, then what you have is called a "round tree message" and this means that there is an issue with the server that handles the voicemail for that celluar provider and their technical support team will handle the issue by reseting your voicemail. If they do this you may lose all of your messages, that is the downside. The upside is that callers will then be able to leave you messages.
If this is referring to your land line answering machine, I would recommend unpluging it, letting it sit for a minute and plugging it back in. You may also want to make sure that you do not have caller ID call block initated on your home phone, which will tell callers that there call has been delivered successfully but the party they are calling does not accept calls from parties who have their number blocked.
hi, if you can't use your voice mail, maybe you can use your answering machine in your jet itself...
just configure your answering machine to simply answer all your phone calls, if you are busy.. it will record all callers messages...
it is actually the alternative for your voice mail..
to switch on your voice mail, if you prefer to use the network service. you may try the following steps..
1. press settings..
2. on your settings, select applications
3. on your applications, select all calls
4. on your all call settings, select your voice mail and input your voice mail service number..
5. once finished, select save, and exit your settings menu..
6. to check if it's working.. use another phone to call your number, but be reminded that if your built in answering machine is on, turn if off..
good luck..
This was a new phone I was using,& didn't realize I had voice mail on it. When it rang 2 times, it recorded the message before I answered on the 3rd. or 4th ring, giving me a dial tone. It is all fixed now.
Is the OGM distorted on the callers phone or on the same speaker the incoming messages are heard?
If it's just the speaker, then the speaker itself or the amplifier drving the speaker is defective.
If the OGM is distorted for callers, then the signal processing before the amplifiers is defective.
More than likely it's a replace not a fix. The speaker unit itself will be very difficult to source. Maybe a very well stocked Radio Shack. Any electronics will likely be in a (custom?) integrated circuit.
