Hi wabee,
I'll go out on a limb & ask you if the system was restarting before you tried to install, VIA Vinyl Audio? I'm guessing it did not.
Do not try to install any more. If possible try to run windows update. Here's why. Something does not agree with the download. Either the software Vinyl is corrupt, your current system configuration software does not agree with the software driver or your current hardware does not agree with Vinyl. Even though VIA created both Vinyl & AC97 audio. Its possible windows up might have a software fix or update that will repair or update your install of vinyl driver. If not...
Please uninstall the driver if at all possible & pray it did not over write too many system files. If you’re lucky you can uninstall the driver through add/remove programs.
If not than run windows System Restore.
Was this the link you downloaded from?

wabee, when windows XP home edition first came out there were a lot of problems with sound drivers & programs like Rioax. They would restart the PC. Restarts are also common with
Certain driver files conflict with irq sharing & cause windows to restart. In your bios where it asks PnP OS, if you set it to yes than windows assigns irq's. If you set as no, than the bios sets the irq's. Do not change your current bios settings until your system is running correctly.
Let’s hope system restore works. Lastly you can turn off the auto-reboot by opening System control panel, click Advanced, startup & Recovery and untick 'Automatic reboot'. Then you can see Blue Screen and then diagnose the problem.
Blue screen fixes. http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm
Let me know how things turn out.
Have more questions, feel free to ask.
Best of luck!

It seems it is a product of SiS. Visit http://www.sis.com.tw and search the BIOS upgrade in the download or support section. If SIS has launched any upgrade for your product, it will be available there. ([email protected])
