When I first plugged the Sansa in, it had no problem at all seeing it, but when I tried to access the folders where the music is held, all I got were blank folders. I've tried everything in the book to make Vista see the music on there. I have synced files to it via WMP 11 and it worked fine. I can see those two music files but no the other 920mb of music data. Can anyone please, please help me? This is the most frustrating problem I have ever come across. Thanks!

Get the latest firmware upgrade - this player wasn't originally designed with WMP 11 in mind. Also, make sure the laptop has the folders "My Documents" and "My Music" on it - this is primarily where WMP reads from.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3
Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa
players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do
not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues -
they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes,
flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.
Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the
computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull
down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor
over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow
underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary
slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware
upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in
the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have
the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to

If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off,
hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer
while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button
for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into
recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says
Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods
to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE
shutting down your computer.

ok, look turn your device on and select settings, next you want to find usb mode (wording may vary). select this option and change this setting to msc, i have a 2 gig clip and this seemed to work......if this doesnt work try the mpt setting under the same "usb mode" option.....also when putting songs on your device, make sure the files are in wma format(windows media audio) to do this , see the songs properties, ussually done with a right click on the songs shorcut or logo.....if the file is in mp3 format, open the song in windows media player and open the library tab, highlight what you want to put on your device right click and select send to .....then select audio converter, convert the files then send them to your clip.

my sister has the same mp3 player unfourtunatly see put it in her back pocket sat on it then the screen broke it still worked for a couple of months and then it died the circuit board exploded. Now if your talking about downloading songs i can help all you have to do is get a program called free youtube to mp3 converter, what you do is copy the url and paste it into the place where it says paste url then hit download it will usally come up in a different place if you set it to download to your desktop then you wont have that problem.
