I love my Olympus WS-100 digital recorder, exept for one thing. I can't tell how much life is left on the battery. The indicator goes essentially instantly from fully charged to dead. Overall battery life is OK, but I never know if the battery will last through a recording session. Is this normal for the WS-100?

you can rewind a tad and listen, but you can't overrecord, because a digital recorder writes audio information into a data file and saves it. you just can play it back again and record a new file. if you want to cut off a part of your recording, you have to edit the file in an audio editor. - as the olympus stores wma-files, you'll have to convert them into wav format first to edit them. i tried the 'switch' software successfully.

I had the same problem; see earlier post about record times. The "format" solution worked for me.

SOURCE: CANNOT TRANSFER AUDIO FILES FROM WS-100 OLYMPUS
I wrote this for the Olympus VN-3100PC although it may work with this device as well.
Try this:
This problem can typically be solved by unplugging the device from
your computer's USB port and plugging it in to another USB port on the
same computer.
Also be sure you have Olympus Digital Wave Player installed and open with your Transfer Options set to Auto Transfer. To do this, follow the steps below:
Open Digital Wave Player > select Transfer from the menu > select Transfer Options > under Auto Transfer, check the box which reads "Transfer all audio files after detecting Recorder."
