Bigger problem My situtation is a little more complicated: When I plug the usb it gets a drive letter so, as I cannt erase information from the usb (it appears "it is not allowed because the drive is write protected"), I noticed the drive has many information which wasn't music, so I assumed it was a virus, the computers where usb is connected were protected with norton and avira and no one found nothing, so I used the autorun virusn remover which found somehintg and it appears it was cleaned. Although I couldn't erase information, and when I tried format a similar adviced related to write protected status appears). I tried to chenge privileges for access but they were blocked, I tried to access by the hard disks manager of windows and the only thing a could do was delete the drive letter, it wasnt possible to format. At the end I use ubuntu to access and although I finally erase all the information, when I connected it to windows all the files were there again, so I am writting here, I also tried to upgrade the firmware but it isnt detected by the sw. Also I tried with Paragon partition manager, in windows safe mode, but all it says is it is not possible.

I just got a new laptop and I no longer have my softward installation disk for my simpletech 320GB external hard drive. I've gone onto simpletech.com and am having trouble finding the software program. ...

If you have a new laptop, you should not need the install disk to see the drive as the drive is USB 2.0 compliant.

And no, nothing will get erased unless you erase it on purpose.

Plug the drive into you laptop (USB cable).

Plug power into to the external drive.

Turn the drive on.

It may take a minute or so but your laptop should recognize the drive. It will get assigned a drive letter (assuming you are using Windows).

Joybee 130 MP3 plaer

Plug your player into your computer via USB. If Windows recognizes it, a new drive should show up under "My Computer". It may be called "Removeable media". It may be some letter like "G" or "H". If you have an SD card bigger than 512 MB, then find the removeable drive that is bigger than 512 MB that shows up when you plug in your MP3 player and that drive is your SD card.

Make note of when drive letters are shown. EX: C: D:

Plug the USB drive back in. Should hear alittle chime.

Insignia mp3

Please provide more information on the error message.

You can use Windows Explorer to transfer files to your insignia sport player. First, in the settings on your player, go to Settings, USB Mode, Connection Type and select File & Folder. Then, plug your player in to your USB cable. Windows XP should automatically find your player and make a new drive letter in Windows Explorer. Simply drag and drop your mp3 files from your c drive to the new drive for your player. You'll notice that when you delete the files on your new drive for your player that it doesnt remove them from your player. You'll need to use your player (settings, system, erase internal) to erase internal (and external), but after that when you add new files, they will be added to the player when it does the profiling after you disconnect the USB cable. Erasing or deleting stored materials

When you plug it in to your USB port, it should be assigned the next available drive letter that is not taken by a physical drive (your primary hard drive or another USB drive). Then you can browse the drive through Windows Explorer.
