MY MAYTAG WASHER SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. I STARTED IT. IT FILLED WITH WATER AND NOW WON'T AGITATE, DRAIN OR SPIN. DO I NEED A REPAIR MAN OR A NEW WASHER?
Is there anything I can try?
If you hear a motot running the coupling between the motor and transmission has disinagrated.
Check lid switch. Most will not run with lid open and the switch may not be pressed down when door is closed

Possible fault with the program controller unit. You need to check the program cycle outputs using a multimeter connected to measure the output voltage. On start the inlet should open and then close as the water level sensors works and then proceed to wash. So this much seems OK. Now in the next step the drain valve must open to drain off, then fill once again with the inlet working and water level being sensed. If there is no output in this section cycle then the prrogram controller has errors within the memory . You can remove the panel and reset all connectors and connections.
