Each pixel if u look at it closely has your three primary colours red, green and blue if u are only seeing red then chances are that those tiny bulbs that are filled with xenon gas have blown leaving u with dead pixels i have worked closely with the manufacturers of plasma and lcd tvs, they will give u time frames like in the first year if it blows 10 or more pixels it may be fixed or replaced under warranty... after a certain amount of time they will not repair as they class this as a consumable product to a certain extent and therefore in the fine print they dont have to completely honour such warranty... like a bulb in a projector they will not cover that under warranty.... they only have 3000-4000 hours and the plasmas average around 10 000 - 15 000 hours... hope this was helpful

Red dots means dead pixels if you can return it or sell it because it can sometimes spread out, but you can get it fixed for about 140 dollars at minium at a place that fixes the panels and that of tv's if you can tho return it ASAP

SOURCE: Red Dots

This is know as diffusion. You will need to locate the Vs adjustment inside the TV and vary it up and down by NO MORE THAN 10 volts. If this does not correct the problem then you will need to replace the Plasma panel.

Red dots show up on the black portion of the screen. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve

I had the same red dots in the dark areas and it was driving me nuts. I also have a toshiba 50hp66. Luckily I found out that it's an easy fix. Open up the back of your tv and on the left side you will see two adjustment pots labelled Vsc and Vy. I first marked with a sharpie where the factory defaults were. Then I adjusted down (to the left) the Vy a little and the red spots were gone! My TV looks like new. Hope this helps.

Hello, why does my plasma tv have thousands of red and green flashing dots all over the dark parts of screen after it has been on for roughly half an hour? if i turn tv off for a while then turn back on...

I had a similar problem but mine was just red specks that showed up in dark scenes. I opened up my plasma and found the adjustment pots that are labeled Vsc, Vy. I then marked the factory default with a sharpie first. Then I lowered the Vy a little and my red specks disappeared. Now my tv looks awsome again like it was new.

When tv warms up i get red dots in darker areas of screen

what you can do is take off the back pannel and there is a cord on the top of the board that looks like a computer board, there are many boards in the TV but the one I am talking about is twords the bottom where the video jacks plug in to the TV. Ok once you have located the pannel there is a cord on the top kinda tword the right side, it is many wires inside a black covering. What you need to do is just simply unplug it and plug it back in, do this as many times to try to get it to fix the problem.
