Elna 6003Q Sewing Machine won't snap out of bobbin winding mode

6003Q won't snap out of bobbin winding mode - hence other functions like stitch selection, stitch length, up/down needle postion, reverse, etc. do not work - needle does go up and down but is not supposed to when machine is in bobbin winding mode.

Thank you so much!  I followed the instructions above and now it is working so sweetly!  You have totally de-stressed my wife's sewing.  For four years now she has dreaded winding the bobbin because she never knew how long it would take to start working again.

One point: In our case the screw was loose, so there was no "other side".  I slid it towards the back of the machine and tightened.

I had the same problem and fixed it myself. Remove the portion of the housing that coincides with the bobbin winder. You will need to remove two screws to do this--one is just to the upper left of the bobbin winder itself, and one is hidden under the handle on the left side of the machine (lift the handle, and look on the machine on the left side.) It takes some coaxing to remove the housing, but it can be done--be gentle. If you need to, remove the housing on the left side of the machine that covers the needle assembly. This will make it a bit easier, but still, be gentle.)
After removing the housing, you will see a black metal piece with a elongated slot and a screw adjacent to the bobbin winder mechanism. Unscrew the screw a turn or two, and slide the piece to the other side. Tighten gently. Turn your machine on, and move your bobbin winder back and forth and watch the screen change from bobbin winding to the main straight stitch screen. Now, do a brief Dance of Joy. I hope this helps.

This worked for my Elna 6200! Getting the cover off was tricky, and the inside didn't match yours, but the problem was obvious - a screw had loosened and the bobbin mechanism was no longer pressing the electronic bit closed (sorry, no tech lingo). Saved my machine!

After I "undid" winding my bobbin, the electronic display still showed the symbol for winding bobbin and the machine will only sew straight. None of the other buttons like back stitch or change stitches...

are you sure you've moved the bobbin winding mechanism back to the right spot? if its still pushed over against the bobbin spool holder it may be stopping the normal functions from working. If that isn't the problem then it may be something for the tech at the Elna dealers.

Elna sewing machine 7000 geting bobin won't go through the feed dog

sorry, not sure I understand your problem. can you elaborate?

Have you got the correct Elna bobbin for your machine? check your manual, it should have an image of the bobbin, the 7000 was one of the last Swiss made Elnas and although a computerised machine, it still tool the Elna metal bobbin with 7 holes on one side only. If you are using another bobbin in the shuttle, it may not function correctly.

if you can add some more info I will try to help you further.

I have the Elna 6003 quilter's dream machine. The problem is that it is stuck in the "bobbin winding" mode and will not allow me to change stitches. I have tried turning it off and turning it...

Does this have a bobbin winder post and stop at the top right. If so, is the bobbin winding post moved back to normal position or up against the post?

Being computerised, if you have tried powering it down and all the settings are correct, then it might want a trip in the car to see the technician to sort out this fault.

Hm, wondering if it could be the presser foot pressure setting. Most machines have this capability where the amount of pressure applied to the feed dogs can be increased or decreased. You might check your owner's manual,.

Elna 6003Q Will not snap out of Bobbin Winding Mode

I gently took a screwdriver and press the plastic base of the bobbin spindle to the left, I guess that the spindle base was not making a good connection, so the computer could not tell if it was still in that mode.  It worked for me. thank-you for your other insights to this problem.

It seems that the bobbin winder sensor needs adjusting and is best done by a service technician with the appropriate service manual to ensure correct parameters are achieved..........to locate your nearest Elna dealer, try ElnaUSA .....here
