I have a 1997 GE television that I purchased from a hotel sale and certain channels are locked and it did not come with a remote is there a way to get a remote to unlock channel?

1st go to the locked channel.
and then press menu>system>child lock
and then press and hold down tv/av key and press swap key.
and see locked channel is unlock.

For the RCA Television Model 27F530T, the way to reset parental control password is to do the following:

Have the TV turned off. Press and hold the Volume Down button on the TV (one of the six buttons on the tv) and the Clear button on the Remote. Keep them held down until the TV turns itself on. Then the password has been reset. You can access the menu through the remote by pressing Menu, and highlighting the Parental Controls option, then pressing OK to access it. The interface will prompt you to create a password.


This is the absolute way to do this. I am posting this because repairguy fixed my problem with this, and there are so many non-working solutions out there. This is the one that absolutely works for a RCA Television Model 27F530T.

if you can get to menu to unlock the channels type in 0000 or 1234 or 9999 or 0001 orif this doesnt work you could take back off tv and remove the little battery that looks like a coin out. becareful, this is high voltage in there.........

I bought a hotel tv (H27D35DT) from habitat for humanity. found manual online, the "master remote" from remotecontrolwarehouse.com I could'nt get the channel to get off of the locked position. I called the 800# in the back of the manual. All he had me do was hold the menu button, wait for it to go off and then try the default code 9876ENTER, We also tried the rest of the codes of 4321Enter,3698Enter,1478Enter After trying all, I tried 9876Enter again and got three black lines on the screen. The one in the middle, (power manage) is the right one. Using the TV/FM button you can navigate in this selectiion. We changed item 20 (channel overide) to "1" We changed item 11 (start channel) to "255" We changed item 14 (channel lock) to "0" Turned the tv off a couple of times throughout this to make it rethink. Had it auto program the cable channels and SUCCESS. The trick is holding the mernu button and getting 9876rnter hit in 2 sec!! Havent been able to get back to it.

you can use the buttons on the front of the tv, but they might be also pre locked
