How do I get my symphonic TV to video mode without a remote

no possible unless set has actual video or input button on it---almost all the Symphonic sets only have this feature on the original remote.

Trying to connect a Sega Genesis. I know it's connected properly to the place where the cable wire goes and then that is connected to the connector. What channel do I go to to play the games?

Hi,

The input from the Sega wont be on any channel number - you need to select the correct input for the Sega using the "INPUT SELECT" button on the Symphonic remote control supplied with the TV. Switch on the TV the Sega, then press this button repeatedly until you can see the picture from the Sega.

- If you are using the sockets on the BACK of the TV, the correct input is "VIDEO 1"
- If you are using the sockets on the FRONT of the TV, the correct input is "VIDEO 2". You can also switch to the "VIDEO 2" input by pressing the "GAME" button on the Symphonic remote - if you still have it.

If you don't have the Symphonic remote, look for a button marked "INPUT" or "SOURCE" if you are using a universal remote.

If you don't have any remote for the TV, you will only be able to use the sockets on the front of the TV. You will then need to switch to "GAME MODE" by using the buttons on the front of the TV:

1. Switch ON the TV and the Sega;
2. Press the MENU button;
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to open the PICTURE MENU;
4. Highlight GAME MODE using the CHANNEL UP/DOWN buttons;
5. Set GAME MODE to "ON" using the VOLUME UP/DOWN buttons;
6. Press MENU again to close the menu

You should now be able to see the picture from the Sega. If not, check you have correctly connected the Sega to the TV. When you have finished using the Sega you will need to use the method above to switch game mode off again.

Hopefully, I've covered every possible angle. If you have a different Symphonic TV model from the one listed above (ST420FF), the method should be similar, but if you have any difficulty, please post back for further assistance.

How to get universal remote to turn the tv to game mode

Hi,

I don't know if this can be done with a universal remote, but if you can let me know which brand and model of universal remote you are using, I will check if it is possible. If your universal remote has an "AV", "SOURCE" or "INPUT" button, try these but make sure the game system is switched on so you are able to see if/when you have changed to the correct mode.

If you don't have the original Symphonic remote, you should be able to switch the TV to game mode using the buttons on the front of the TV as follows:

1. Switch the game system on
2. Press the "MENU" button on the front of the TV
3. Highlight "PICTURE" using the CHANNEL UP/DOWN buttons
4. Press the VOLUME UP button once to enter the PICTURE menu
5. Highlight "GAME MODE" using the CHANNEL UP/DOWN buttons
6. Use the VOLUME UP/DOWN buttons to set "GAME MODE" to "ON"
7. Press "MENU" to exit the menu and play games.

The menu should automatically close anyway if you don't press any buttons for about 15 seconds.

When you have finished playing your game, repeat the above steps to set "GAME MODE" back to "OFF" and return to watching TV.

Hope this helps. Please post back for further assistance if needed.

I own a symphonic 27" television

I had this problem on a symphonic 27 inch TV I just bought from a friend who no longer had a remote. The thing with the menu and buttons on the front of the TV doesn't actually change the TV to true game mode. I don't know what it acutally does, but it isn't really in game mode. When it is in true "game mode" you can't change the channels until you turn game mode off. What I did was bought a universal remote (a specific one that someone told me about) for 8 bucks at walmart and I was then able to switch to game mode with the Input select on the remote. The remote I bought that actually worked is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Magnavox-PM435S-4-Device-Universal/dp/B00006686A/ref=acc_glance_ce_ai_-2_1_tit/002-3174824-8273629
Make sure you look at it before you buy it and make sure it has a button that specifically says "input" on it. I know that some of the universal remotes don't have an input select button or one that doesn't work. As long as you get a Philips-Magnavox that has that button, you should be ok. Much better solution that paying 30 bucks for a new remote specifically for the TV. Hope this helps.
