Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32HS420 32" TV Logo

My sony kv-32hs420 keeps randomly switching inputs

It isn't the remote, as I've removed the batteries. Also, the TV/video button on the front of the TV its self doesn't seem to be stuck or malfunctioning. Any ideas?

i was afraid of that. can you tell me how to get the front panel off the tv to access it? i couldnt see an easy way to do so.

You have to replace all the micro-switches at its front panel switch board PWB.

Hi -

I had the exact same problem recently with my SONY Trinitron 27 inch TV! After trying everything, I found that pushing the Up and Down volume controls on the TV panel (ie NOT on the remote) at the same time, the problem went away. I hope that this helps!

SOURCE: Sony KV-32HS420 will not come on has blinking standby light

Get out your original remote and hold the "Setup" button at the same time as holding the On/Off button on the TV set. It just worked for me!! Thank goodness. I was just about to bring it for repair but there's a snowstorm. Here's the link I got this from: http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=http--esupportsonycom-perl-tutorial-displaypltutid297templateid1regionid1KSMFlag7370&sliceId=&docTypeID=DT_TUTORIALS_1_1&dialogID=53101564&stateId=0%200%2053105132

SOURCE: how to turn standby off

The TV circuit may have detected a problem within its parts. You may have to check some leaking capacitors in the board or loose solders or burned components just to make sure. Normally leaving the TV unplugged overnight should reset it.

Sony KV-32HS420 won't come on.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Video input permanently displayed

If there is no "input video" button on the control panel of this series of set, as like the older Sony sets had, you need to order the original remote from the Sony service center, or Sony parts directly. Universal remotes (any that I know of) will not access this menu in your Sony set.
