Vista drivers not working

When i log on I initially get an error message that Mcafee is not responding. I also can not log onto internet - not responding. I try and get ms updates - same message not responding. I have tried the few diagnostic tools - check memory - disk defrag/cleanup to no avail. I think there may be some type of virus that has turned off a number of key drivers. I don't know what to do.

    Thank you for your response.

    FireFox

I haven't tried McAfee from the start menu. I will attempt it later. I'm not at the machine now.

Windows defender is the only other and I scanned and it gave an all clear.

    Cable

    No wireless.

I'm pretty careful about potential viruses but I think I must have got one and it has turned a lot of the functionality of the machine off.

Download Advanced System care 8 free online and install it.
Run it and on the second or third tab find a program called driver booster. Download and install it. Run it. It will take some time but it will upgrade your drivers to the newest latest drivers. As well as having your computer cleaned at the same time.

First let me ask a couple of questions --
what web browser do you use?
can you start McAfee from the start menu? Start -> Programs
Do you have any other visus scanners/removers on your system?
What kind of internet connection do you have Cable/DSL/Dial-Up?
and are you using a wireless device?

the first thing we really need to do is get you on the internet so we can download some tools.

if you haven't already, open up Internet Explorer and see if you can connect with it. sometimes certain viruses will kill a lot of functions but will leave let ie work, sort of.

and are you running XP , XP pro or Vista and what service pack?

find out by going to ---

Start -> Control Panel -> System, the first page should have version and service pack.

Internet Not Responding

Sounds like your best bet is to go back to Windows update and let them run all the way through before starting any further actions. Your daughters computer was fine because it did not require the same updates.

Installed McAfee on Compaq Presario F700. IE7 frozed up.

If you have McAfee Internet Security, there could be some settings that have disabled connection. I had this issue with McAfee once myself.

Open the McAfee security center and try to tone down any firewall settings, antiphishing, etc. For me, I turned off antiphishing and firewall altogether and it worked, but maybe not recommended.

Trying to install all in one printer onto new computer

You apparently do not have administrative access to the computer. If you are using XP, you will need to log out and log back in as a user that has administrative privileges on the computer. Under VIsta, you need to respond to the UAC prompt in order to install software drivers.
