When power is turned on, it makes a screeching sound and returns error 5100. Turned power off / on. I read previous solution. I cleaned plastic strip but still didn't work. I can't get to the printer head holder to reseat cartridges. How can I manually pull out holder without damaging it?
There is an issue with ink catridge. You need to inspect the catridge area for obstructions that are blocking print head see this picture by picture steps to reseat printer head holder - https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART120381.

Try taking a clean lintfree rag dampened with rubbing alcohol and clean the bar. This may have to be repeated a number of times to get the foreign matter off the bar and the ink carriage.
Let me know if this helps. iF it does not we can try something else.
Thanks.
