I bought a singer low shank snap on foot holder for my singer 247 machine, so that I can use a variety of snap on feet like invisible zip foot, gathering foot etc. I followed all the instructions on how to attach snap on feet to this foot holder yet, no snap on feet have attached, even when I press down on the screw holding the shank. I just looked at your free manual on the www.singerco.com site and it looks a little complicated to do, Do you think that maybe downloading the manual and enlarging the diagrams on pages 10 & 11 may help you? If not, call Singer customer service, at 1-800-4singer and ask for some advice. Good luck
Testimonial: "This wasn't really helpful. I had already followed the instructions in the manual, but wasn't able to do the last step listed."

You are trying to attach a long shank foot to a short shank machine. Look for a short shank foot on either Ebay. You may also find it included within a "tin" of accessories at a local thrift shop. If neither of these options work for you check with your local fabric store or sewing machine repair shop for the correct button foot.

I have realised the problem with my presser feet not snapping on was because the space/notch for gripping on my singer shank adapter was wider than the little bar on all my presser feet. I have since found a way around this in a number of ways:by either increasing the thickness of the little bar
To increase the thickness of the little bar on my snap on presser feet, I tightly wound sewing thread around the bar severally to make it more robust, after which it snapped on to the adapter easily! Again, I was able to narrow the grip/notch space on the adapter by pushing a narrow plastic tubing on to the lower end with a crook like shape (the pipe holding ink in a ball point pen worked perfectly). A combination of both was even better. With use, my little contraptions may wear down and need being done all over again, but for now, it has solved the problem. Any suggestions for a permanent solution/
