Phone has a dial tone but will not dial

Phone has a dial tone but when you dial nothing happens. It is almost as if the keypad is disconnected. When you dial you can't even hear the touch tones. This has happens on about 8 of the 12 phones I purchased. What a good deal.

I would first verify that the line is good. Take a known good corded phone. YES corded phone !!! and try dialing with it and make sure it dials on the line every time. Also make sure that the Pulse/Tone setting is set for your service( there is still a few area without Touch Tone belive it or not)

Once you verify that the line is ok check each phone and take the defective ones back to where you bought them.

Comdial Executech 6714x-PG We have nearly 20 phones. All of them get a dial tone but nothing happens when you press 9 to dial out, none of the phones will dial out. Calls can come in only. Thank you

they are either restricted or what you are hearing is intercom tone and not dial tone. the phones may be set to dial out from a diffrent line grop as well have you tried dialing 81 82 instead of 9 and see what happens

The problem was the main phone line not the phone itself

Dial tone hanging

There are two wires going to your phone. Inside the wall jack, switch the red and green wires and the keypad should work .

Dial tone

I disconnected the RadioShack phone/answering machine and plugged in an old phone. At first I didn't get a dial tone, but in a minute or so, I did get one. I doublechecked the connection with the incoming phone jack. (I had checked this before, but didn't see anything wrong.) Again, I didn't see anything wrong, but maybe that did it. Also, when I disconnected the RadioShack from the incoming phone jack, I disconnected from my computer (I used to have dial-up connection).

Don't know which of my actions worked, but now I have dial tone on Radio Shack.
Hoooooooray!!!!

Dial Tone - Number Dialed does not go through

The problem is possibly the keypad on the phone. Try another phone , preferrably a standard corded phone. If you still cannot break the dial tone, then the problem is with the telephone line (phone company)

Can't get to voicemail

Change the DTMF found in phone settings (Initial Set-up) to either short or long. When this is set to off, the voicemail cannot pick up the numbers you type.
