Generic Walkie Talkie BAOFENG BF-888s Two Way Radio Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 13, 2012

I just purchased two Baofeng BF 888s radios and had them programmed to our frequency here. They will both receive and transmit with each other but not transmit to the radios we already had. Any ideas?

Your radios could be programmed with subaudible tones (CTCSS) or digital code squelch (DCS) which the new radios do not have. They can be programmed for it, you need to find out what tone/code you are using.
It could also be that your existing radios are programmed for a "duplex" repeater channel, with different transmit and receive frequencies. The new radios might be on the "repeater output" frequency so they would not activate the repeater.
Both could be the case, missing tone and duplex frequencies.
I would check the programming of the new and old radios, especially for tone/code squelch.

Norm has the right answer. But your radios cannot access a repeater. You need the tone settings to program into the Baofeng or make your Motorola radios no tone. Then they will all talk and listen now. You can get them programmed with tone later.

What is the green flashing light on my baofeng 888s

It means it is receiving a signal. It is good to read the manual when you first get it, and then again after you have used it a few dozen times.

How can I get my Motorola CLS1110 to talk to my Baofeng BF 888s?

The CLS has preprogrammed frequencies. The Bao can be user programmed. If both are Uhf, the Bao must match the CLS unless one of the CLS frequencies is already in use in the Bao. So, are you already using CLS and adding radios? You need the actual frequency and tone code. If you do not understand, contact a dealer like us, local is even better! Channel 1 is only an indicator, not a frequency. [email protected]

I need to tune my baofeng gt-3 mk2 to the same frequency as my baofeng bf-888s I can hear the bf-888s with my gt-3 but cannot talk I've tried every website why cant i talk over it????

1. Make sure both radios are transmitting and receiving on the same frequency (no repeater offset).
2. Either turn off CTCSS tone or make sure both radios are set to the same tone on both Tx and Rx.

If you are using Win7, there is a problem with the USB-Serial driver. Look at www.miklor.com for how to install drivers and other Baofeng info.

I have purchased three Baofeng radios ,but loose communication or contact after 1km,what can I do in order to increase frequency?

Frequency is not the issue. Power is. Also check to be sure you haven't set the squelch controls to too high a level which would reduce the range.
