To overcome the above problem you have to rebuilt theiPhoto library. Press and hold the Command and Option keys when you click on the iPhoto icon. You will then find the below screen with different repairing option, choose the desired option and click on "Rebuild" button. But rebuilding do not guarantee the complete photo recovery and hence you need to use photo recovery. Now you might wonder which software to use. Yodot Mac Photo Recovery is the best answer for this question how to recover deleted iPhoto images.

SOURCE: my iphoto got problem in opening. i cant open it.

You could try the application iphoto library manager which can be found at http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ this can allow you to rebuild corrupted iphoto libraries. I am not sure if the free version has this facility but the full version costs about $20 and is well worth it to keep your iphoto up to scratch. Hope this helps.

Does my Maxtor back up my iphotos?

Run a time machine backup. Then the easiest way would be to find a photo that you are willing to delete in iPhoto.

Jot down the name of the photo file, delete it. Then empty the trash.

Then go into time machine, try to search for that file, when you locate it, restore it. If you can then there is probably a good chance that you time machine backup is good.

To be on the safe side why not create a manual backup.

You'll find the iPhoto Library at:

/Users/username/Pictures

"username" will be your name that appears when you login to the computer.

  1. To get there, double-click the icon for your hard drive to open it, then double-click the Users folder. Double-click your Home folder, which is identified by a house icon and your username, and then double-click the Pictures folder to open it.
        1. Inside the Pictures folder you'll see a file called iPhoto Library. Copy the iPhoto Library file to a location other than your hard drive, such as your Maxtor external hard drive.

Why can't I upload my photos from my finepix s1500 onto my mac? It opened the files in my iphoto but they showed up as blank boxes and "Error downloading images - iPhoto cannot import your photos...

Is this a new problem - that is, did it work in the past? Are you trying to import jpeg or raw?

First thing is to see if it is iphoto or the camera that has a problem.

Try uploading the images to another computer (try a PC - not that it is better, but PC is different). If the images can be seen & read there, the images are likely fine and iphoto may need an upgrade to read the format from the finepix s1500. Alternately, try copying the photos from your memory card (use a memory card reader) to your hard disk. See if another application can see the images (even use a word processor to import image), or e-mail the image to yourself and then use your web-browser to see the image.

If the camera images can't be read by multiple computers/multiple readers, then it may be that your memory card is corrupted.

My iphoto icon on deck has a ciricle with a line though it which means no. I can not open iphoto. it states it could be damaged .

Hi there, there is a easy fix to this problem. What you are first wanting to do is to make a backup of your iPhoto library. The default place is User(Your Home Folder) / Pictures/ iPhoto Library. What you are going to want to do is right click the iPhoto library and select duplicate. Then just click and drag that new iPhoto library you just made to the desktop. Now what you want to do is to install iLife again. Just insert the iLife disk and follow the on screen instructions. Once that is done you should be able to open iPhoto again. If for some reason when you open iPhoto and your photos are not there, then close iPhoto and you want to place the new iPhoto Library that we put on the desktop into U ser(Your Home Folder) / Pictures/ Now drop the iPhoto Library and make sure that it is called iPhoto Library and not iPhoto Library Duplicate, if that is the case then right click the file name and click get info, then just rename it iPhoto Library. Now you are done, open iPhoto and you should have all your photos again.
If for some reason this still does not work, then once again close iPhoto, this time we are going to open it agin but while we open it we are going to hold the option key down too. A menu should pop-up asking you what library you would like to use, all you want to do is select the one that says is located in User(Your Home Folder) / Pictures/ iPhoto Library.

I hope this helps you, Justin

Can't get pics to my mac computer, won't transfer.

When you get the popup from iPhoto don't click on any iPhoto buttons. Instead, click on command+tab and change to your Finder application (leaving iPhoto open in the background).

1) Create a new folder on your Desktop or in your Pictures folder. This is where you will copy your photo files.

2) Click on File, then New Finder window. Size these finder windows so you can see both of them at the same time. In the second window, go to your computer, and then to the drive that represents the memory card in your camera.

3) Drag and drop to copy the files from the camera's memory card Finder window to the new folder Finder window, dropping the files into the new folder on your computer's hard drive.

4) Use command+tab to change back to iPhoto. Cancel from the import warning window. In iPhoto click on File then Import to Library

5) In the import dialog tell iPhoto to move the photos (not to import them in their current location) so that iPhoto puts the photos in the same place it put your other photos when it imported them directly from the camera.

If you can't do all of these steps, tell me how far you got, and what happened.

Step 2. Click the name of iPhone and choose Camera in the left sidebar. The iPhone photos will display in the right part of the software window.
Step 3. Hold Command/Shift key to select the photos you want to transfer, and click the transfer button at the right bottom. Or right-click one selected photo and choose Transfer to > My Computer.
Step 4. After selecting photos, you'll see a pop-up dialog. Check Save to Folder and click Change to choose a folder on your computer to save the photos. Then click Transfer Now to start to copy photos from iPhone to Mac computers.
When the transfer finishes, you will get the photos in target folder. Video Format

If your computer has a SD card reader, you might be better off putting your memory card into your computer and just copying the data.

Have you made sure your iPhoto is up to date? Perhaps a new update caused this problem.. Maybe you should try an older version of the software. Also, you might want to try other software. (I think you are on a mac?), you might want to try the software that came with the camera, if it works on your computer.
