Error message inner cover is open canon pixma mp610 printer

Ok, so here I am in the installation process when after about 2 minutes into the alignment process I get the message above. So I did indeed open and close both covers--started all over again, got the same message. Next, I turned the machine off and began again--got the same error message. Next I turned it off and uplugged it, began again, got the same message. The cover fits just fine, there's no obstacles--what gives--I sure hope I don't have a lemon... I have the same problem with the inner cover open message.......what gives??

I have the same problem – after changing four empty cartridges I suddenly got this error message. Nothing seems to help (not even a firm fist on the cover like we used to do with televisions back in the 1980s).

Had the same problem myself but discovered that I had previously moved the inside flap down when I put the ink in. I moved this back into position and bingo! (If you make sure all the covers are closed then look into the printer where the paper exits you will see the flap that moves up and down, this must be in the up position)

Getting "inner cover is open" message

The inner cover is a flap on the inside in front of the carriage when it is at rest when the cover us open. You had to flip the inner cover down to access the ink cartridges.
Open the cover. The inner cover is in the center and need to be flipped up.
Good luck.

Error message that inner cover is not closed when it is

hello, please turn off the printer and turn it on again. If this doesn't help, check that the inner cover is fully opened, and that nothing holds it. If the same problem persists, you should take it to a repair center.

Just got a canon pixma mp970 printer and it keeps saying that the inner cover is open.

On my MP610, you have to look inside from the front of the printer to see the inner cover. It's a cover you have to open to install ink cartridges. It took me a while to figure it out on my printer too. They'd save a lot of headaches by putting a small identifying label on the inner cover.
