Clear Paper Jam error -- but there is no paper jam!

I now have an error message on the LCD of my Pixma MP780 that says "Clear Paper Jam - Press [OK]" but there is no paper jam to be found anywhere. The print status monitor says the jam is in the transport unit at the rear of the printer. But again, there is no Jam.

Same as already described; possible added factor, it happened immediately after successfully printing with photo paper and switching back to "reg" inkjet paper.

LCD says there is a paper jam and there is no paper jam...

  • thinker1 Feb 03, 2008

I receive the message from the computer:

"Paper is jammed in the paper ejection slot." and on the printer: "Clear paper jam and then print ok"

There is no paper anywhere in the printer.

I've carried out all the inspections and sucked air through the ejection spot but still not work.

  • Anonymous Mar 30, 2014

I just recently got this printer and there were no directions how to operate it. Now I cannot figure out how to clear a paper jam. I am trying to delete something about print abrasion that keeps coming up in a message on my computer.

I am attempting to respond to a recurring message on my computer about deleting print abrasion; now I need to clear a paper jam. Also can you explain the message about print abrasion?

Sometimes while clearing the jam (if there was one) you may leave a bit of paper left behind which obscures a sensor causing it to think there is paper still in the paper path, or sometimes even paper dust can do it. Try a bottle of compressed air and blow the path out very well. Get a bright light (good flashlight) and very throroughly eyeball the paper path for any "foreign" objects...

Most of the sensors are either a microswitch, or more commonly a light sensor (LED and photocell) which can easily become obscured or dirty with even a tiny bit of crud!

I had the same problem with Canon Pixma MX310. Tried turning it on and off, checked for paper bits, etc. I finally cleared it by:
1-Turning off and unplugging cable to PC.
2-Sliding cartridges to left and popping them out and popping them back in.
3-Turned it back on and error was gone and printer worked perfectly.

Canon Mp780 error code 6A00

6A00 is not a jam error, it is an error of the purge assembly not cycling properly. Many times a paper scrap jammed in the capping assembly or the squeegee assembly caught on the filter assembly. Usually worn out gears and dried ink so that replacement of the purge assembly is the best fix.

Error message 6A00

Hi

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Pixma MP780 paper jam

Sandra, on the feed swich which way is the arrow pointing to the front feeder? or to the back feeder? Get a bright flashlight and inspect the back very carefuly. I had the same problem and found a label off of a shirt inside, don't ask me how it got there I havent a clue. But it did fix the problem. You can also try turning it on and off a few times.

If the arrow is pointing to the front paper feeder then the jam is in the front, if it is pointing to the rear that is where there is a problem. Hope this will help. Leo

LCD Error message: Paper output slot. Thye paper is jammed. clear the paper and press OK.

A jam sensor may be stuck or have something stuck on it, causing the machine to think it is jammed. These sensors are normally located where the paper feeds into the printer, and where the paper exits the printer. Try forcing a sheet of paper through the machine in the direction paper normally. feeds. This may free up the jam sensors.
