This error is related to directory permissions and you might have to change some registry settings which is a complex task so it's better if you first try this very effective workaround.
While installing this software, there muist be one step where it is asking for the location to install. At that step chsnge the installation location as
Assuming you have XP
c:\documents and settings \(Your user account name)\Digital Arts\
In case if you have vista
c:\User\(Your user account name)\Digital Arts\

Thanks for your help. I have XP. I was able to fix the pb, though there is no step on the installation process to choose where to install. I had to reboot in safe mode, I choose Start/my computer/tools/folder options/view/advanced settings, and deselected simple file sharing.
Then I clicked on the parent folder where the installation process was trying to install the application. I right clicked on properties, then security tab/properties and listed Administrators for full control.
Restart the computer. The installation runs then perfectly.
Have you compared all of the system requirements listed on the packaging to what the PC you are installng it on has?
