Samsung TV Model LA40A650A1M back light intermittently strobeing and sometimes cuts out completely, powering TV off via remote and back on temporarily resolves issue, but returns at various times, have removed power supply board to check capacitors - look OK none appear to be leaking. Power supply board details Hansol LCD, Rev 1.3, Manf date 11 July 08, Model SIP 408A BN44-001947A I note in some posts for similar Samsung P/S boards it has been suggested replacing specific capacitors - any suggestions of what caps to replace on this P/S board? I guess easiest repair would to replace the complete board with a new one if I can source? Thanks for any advise

I have removed back from TV and removed power supply and carefully inspected capacitors for any sign of leakage or expanding, no obvious signs.

  • Anonymous Sep 15, 2012

cleaned dust out of rear of TV noted there is a small fan mounted just above the power supply board - this was caked with dust.

  • Anonymous Sep 15, 2012

I re assembled the TV and powered up, up graded the firmware - problem still there but didn't seem as bad.

  • Anonymous Sep 15, 2012

Next I will replace the capacitors on the P/S board - however wondering if the problem may be originating from the system board? flickering seems to mostly occur when the advertisements finish at the point when the Tv switches back to the running program

I now believe the problem is with the inverter board - will have to remove back of Tv to get part number from the board as can't seem to find any parts list on the web

You can't see if a cap is good or bad jus looking at them they have to be measured>They loose their capacitance because they dry overtime.
I do sugest that you replace you power supply module or replace all caps.Possibily you may have a broken line in the PCB

SOURCE: Which Replacement Power Board for LNT4665F Samsung LCD TV?

Howdy,
It would be a lot cheaper if you just replace the two caps that have gone bad. Just get a cheap solder pencil from the store and about an inch of solder and you are in business.
The Power Supply Board is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.

Thaks for using FIXYA, BIG IRISH.

SOURCE: viewsonic n3251w - no power

A lot of TVs are having their power boards go bad due to a poor brand of capacitor (CapXon usually).

If small problems are noticed with the tv, the solution is to replace the capacitors. However, once the TV gets to the point where there is no power at all any more (not even a stand-by light) then the power supply has to be replaced.

Visit Viewsonic's website or call your local Viewsonic repair shop to get a price on this board. They are usually under $100.

How to fix my Samsung flat screen TV model number un55 eh6000 f. Soon as you power on 30 seconds after power on screen starts to Flicker and bounce like a strobe light

Unplug the power cord from the back of the TV. Make sure there's no dust or anything in it, blow it out and then plug it back in and make sure it's all the way plugged in and then do the same to the rest of the connections

Samsung Smart TV model UA32J5500AW unresponsive to remote regardless of distance.

1) Make sure nothing is covering the infared receiver spot on the TV. Might be something that simple.
2) Try a "universal" remote -- under $10 many places.
3) If you haven't done this already, unplug TV for a minute or two and when you plug it back in, may reset.
4) Contact manufacturer via their web site for help.

Samsung UN50J6200AFXZA Power button blinks constantly, backlights blinks like a slow strobe, tv doesn't come on at all. I have replaced the main power supply and the video boards and no change.

I will test the back lights first.

To test the back lights, you need to disconnect the cable between the main power supply & the main board, apply the AC power to the power supply, if the back lights are not light up, the back light are defective.

I have a samsung Un55J6200afxza. sometimes when i power on the tv there is no backlight.

It could be a defective main board, or intermittent LED diode on the back lights strips.

I will try a new main board first.

Volume intermittently increases all the way to 100 and cannot be controlled by the remote

This happens with some models. You can open the TV from the back and disconnect the connector for the side control board. You will only have control via the remote but your volume issue should be resolved.

Samsung tv model LNS3241DX flickers

I'm not sure of a jumper wire to cut, but one of the first things is to clean out the dust that has accumulated on the electronics. You can blow out the back with compressed air or disassemble the TV case and dust it. Sometimes a layer of dust can cause excessive heat to build and shut off any type of overload circuit. Good luck!

Samsung LN26A450 screen won't work

Your model Samsung falls under a class actions settlement. These units have defective power supply boards and Samsung has agreed to pay for the repair / replacement of the boards at no cost to the user even if the unit is out of standard warranty. This sounds like the issue with your TV. Here is a link with additional information about the settlement and how to get the warranty work completed.

Power supply for dmtech wt20xt lcd tv

I have DMtech 20" with intergrated DVD and had the same problem- blue light lit on power switch but no response on power up.
I noticed that when the power cord was unplugged from the back of the TV the green LED on the power supply would brighten and consequently dim when plugged back in. Sometimes the blue light on the power switch would strobe very quickly but you had to look carfully for this.
I repeatedly unplugged the DIN type power plug from the back of the TV untill the green light on the power supply stayed a constant bright and there was no strobing on the blue light on the front of the TV, when I powered the TV on at this point the button worked again and the tv powered up with the silly tune then life in the screen. I did have to do this a good few times (I'm tenacious) but it did work!!!!!
Hope this helps someone else, cheers.
