My car has been randomly shutting off when i use my brakes or anything electrical, the scary thing is it does this wile im driving, also after it shuts down it needs a jump to start again...can u tell me what might be wrong with it

    would the speedometer and the tachometer start twitching if the alternator was toast? because when that happens wile im driving i tap the brake and the car shuts down instantly..no sputter no flickering lights no warning on my dash...

Its probably the alternator not charging the battery. Get it started, disconnect the positive wire from the battery and see if it still runs.

I had this problem, 98SATURN SC 1, a few years back after I changed my battery out. I would be randomly driving anywhere, including the highway the whole car would shut off and turn back on.. Brought to dealer, said the battery cables were loose. Problem fixed.

Now, sometimes when I tap the brakes, the radio shuts off. A few times had no power, and played with battery cables and everything is fine after. Now it seems I have a loose battery cable or bad cable. My brother works for the Battery Shop of NE, and the battery is fine.

Check/Replace cables.

I'd rechagre your battery fully then test the alternator. It sound to me like you have a bad alternator.

Polo 1.4 - Im used to driving an automatic, but the Polo is manual. When I stall th engine, the foot brakes won't work. This is scary, especially on a hill!
Most likely the car has Power-Assisted brakes, Almost all vehicles today do. They allow us to stop the car with very little pressure required on the brake pedal, as the system uses engine vacuum to do the work of our leg. When you stall the car, you lose engine vacuum. This means that the brake pedal will still work, but requires far more effort to push since there is no vacuum assist. Most vehicles have a check valve at the input to the power brake booster to hold vacuum on the booster when the vehicle shuts down. This provides you with one last free press of the pedal. If you are not getting that, either your car does not have a check valve, or the valve is faulty.

Have it towed to a shop! Do not drive this car! It seems that either your brake master cylinder or the brake booster or both have failed. You can no longer count on having brakes when you need them.

Car downshifts while driving
I had exactly the same problem. It would randomly downshift without warning even at highway speeds. Very Scary!!

After the independent garage couldn't figure it out I took it to the Chrysler dealer. First time through, they did a few things that I knew wouldn't fix it. Two days later I took it back after another scary downshift on the Interstate. They kept it two days.

Believe it or not, the problem turned out to be the ignition switch!!

That was over two years ago, and the problem has NOT re-occured, so they nailed it - and I'm grateful.

Impala keeps turning off wile driving
What I can tell you-- is that the egr valve,fuel injectors,crank sensor,
maf sensor-- never failed all at once or at all

That tells me three things

Either nothing was tested
You have no idea what was done & paid for it
Or you installed a lot of parts for no reason

What you can do is find a really good & honest repair
shop & start at the beginning & properly diagnose &
resolve all the cars issues

Had that been done in the beginning, it may have cost
less than all the wasted parts that went in so far for no reason

After a wile driving the brakes locks and relace very slow
Sounds like the brake caliper pistons or sliders are sticking, you need to see which wheel is locked, then remove the wheel and free off the offending part.

is it more from the front or back of the car ?? over bumps ?? while acelerating or braking ??

on the top of the front struts there's a rubber bushing called the "upper strut mount" this is a commonly replaced item. Also the sway bar bushings are frequently replaced. or, it could be something totally different..... gremlins ??

Overheats once in a wile no codes on scanner.
I have a 2002 Honda Civic Ex, it has been over heating but only in stop and go traffic, never on the freeway, i have replaced, timing belt, water pump, cooling fan relay, cooling fan switch, flushed radiator. There is no white smoke coming from the tail pipe and the oil is clean, when the car gets hot i can smell the coolant pretty strong, car has never completly overheated gets about 3/4 of the way til red.

Durango shuts off when im driving and than won't restart
This could be a number of things. First thing is do you have a check engine light on? If you do, I would have the codes read. That will tell you exactly what is wrong. And it is free-cheap to have them read.
If anything electrical or sensor wise is bad, the check engine light should be on.
Otherwise it would be a vacuum problem or a clogged fuel filter, possibly a failing fuel pump will also cause this problem.

Rear electronic patking brake/ caliper looks SCARY.
Your A8 and new shape A6s with electric parking brakes require an electric input to the vehicle to tell it to wind back the pistons/pads. Main dealers have this on their diagnostic equipment. You can also purchase after market tools that just do this operation, heres an example

I have only ever used a main dealer machine so im not sure how good an after market one will be. Im not aware of anyway of doing the job without an electrical input to wind back the pads, the motors are very powerful so I wouldnt reccommend trying it manually. Hope this helps.
