I just got a racing wheel for my xbox 360, and the supplied disk will not update, it goes right into the demo disk Forza 2. Is there something I'm missing?
I have the same problem, didn't know whether I am missing a separate drivers disc?
Only have 1 Forza demo disc + played this & xbox goes straight into demo?
Any ideas?I have the same problem, didn't know whether I am missing a separate drivers disc?

Don't feel bad. I bought 2 of these wheels and neither connect to the box ...
The supplied disc jumped into the demo and never updated the console so I have 2 wheels that are just taking up space and two unhappy kids with a even madder mother that is making my after Chrismas blues a total nightmare!

OK, at least for my issues, after talking to MS support ...
Here was the issue with the Setup disc (Forza Demo): If it jumps into the demo ... the XBOX DOES NOT need to be updated.
As for not connecting to the XBOX (Sync'ing up the controllers) ...
You need to press the SYNC (located by the memory card slots)Button BEFORE you PRESS the SYNC button on the wheel controller. Once you do that (a step that is not clearly pointed out in the stupid an poorly written manual) all worked asa expected. A Simple hook-up procedeure that took 2 days because of a step that was not pointed out or not made obvious to the XBox Parents and non users.
The update disk contains an update that has been sent down through xbox live and/or through updates that are installed when you buy a new game. so its skips straight to the demo as it recognises the update is already present on your xbox.
regarding pedals not working, i've had the same problems, although I've notice that it seems like the wheel thinks that either both pedals are full pressed down (brake lights are on and car rev'ing its balls off) or nothing at all. Some sort of fault between connect of pedals and wheel, perhaps replace the RJ11 straight through cable, or could be a fault with the connection socket on the wheel/pedal.

Yeah thats an old one and i had one at once but i did not have a problem with mine, it sounds like a short in the wheel or you have a power issue. Are you using the rechargeable battery pack or the wall AC power plug? you may have a bad battery pack or wall plug is what i am saying. but this is an obsolete device you may have to find one cheap and see if it does the same thing as well..
Move the racing wheel closer to the
console.
• Make sure the AC power supply is plugged
in or, if you're using batteries, that the
batteries are fresh.
• Keep the console and racing wheel at least
three feet away from large metal objects,
such as file cabinets and refrigerators.
• Metallic decorations or stickers on the
console or racing wheel can interfere
with racing wheel performance. Remove
decorations and try connecting again.
• Make sure the front of the console is
positioned in the direction of the racing
wheel and away from nearby walls.
• Cordless phones (2.4 GHz), wireless LANs,
wireless video transmitters, microwave
ovens, some mobile/cell phones, and
Bluetooth headsets can interfere with the
operation of the racing wheel. Turn these
off or unplug them and try reconnecting
them.
• If you're using batteries and nothing else
works, turn off your console, remove and
reinsert the AA batteries or Xbox 360
Rechargeable Battery Pack into the racing
wheel, and then repeat the steps given in
"Connect Your Racing Wheel."
I reccomend you to try the game Forza Motorsport 4, since you are playing Project Gotham. Forza 4 has the best racing experience you can get at this moment.
Hello, NFS Hot pursuit 2010 on the Xbox 360 officially supports the Microsoft wheel but any Xbox 360 wheel will most likely work fine....their words. I haven't played the console version but if you say the wheel works I suggest you try remapping the pedal controls under gameplay settings if this is possible
I have the same problem also earlier this year (first half of 2011) I can't find a solution anywhere. I think it has something to do with an update or something, because the wheel feels right up to the moment the game starts. suddenly the wheel goes LEFT or RIGHT, no deadzone.
The only thing i can recommended is to do a fresh install of the Drivers for the wheel and then update again and see if that clears it up. Also make sure that when you plug the wheel in, or start a program that uses the wheel. don't move it to much, it could also be a calibration error.
You can either contact Microsoft Xbox Suppot to ask for the installation disc or if you have a Forza 2 or PGR3 game disc you can use them as well. These game discs has a patch that will update the wireless racing wheel and should make it work.
Same problem here - wheel operates but pedals do not !

Same problem. I only received a demo disk for Forinza. I can't install the wheel or get it to work.
