After a few heating cycles the burner does not ignite

I actually have a Maytag MDG4000BWW gas dryer. I couldn't find that model listed. After a few heating cycles - igniter glows then burner ignites - the igniter glows but I hear a sound that I can only describe as pouring tacks down a metal drainpipe. The burner doesn't ignite and the igniter shuts off. This behavior is repeated until I let the dryer rest (cool down?). Then the burner will ignite a few times again until I hear this sound. This strange sound starts after I hear the relay click for the igniter. I cleaned the dryer vent and lint filter. Any Ideas? Thanks, Stick87

got clothes out of dryer without actually turning knob to off position. 7 hours later I hear a pinging noise in my laundry room. room was very hot and the top of the dryer was really hot like the top of your stove when you are cooking. It was like the knob was stuck. I unplugged the dryer and let it cool down.

The problem you are describing is usually associated with a bad gas valve coil. The dryer runs normally until it gets hot, then starts making a strange clicking noise. After it cools down, the dryer runs normally again. The gas valve coils (there are two of them) usually run about $20 a piece. I recommend replacing both of them at the same time just to be sure. I hope this helps.

My Maytag gas dryer, Model No, LDG7500AAW will run but not heat. The igniter glows red, but the gas will not flow. What might be wrong?

Replace the 2 burner coils ,if the igniter keeps cycling trying to start the flame. If it doesn't replace the flame sensor mounted on the side of the burner tube.

Ignition works but doesn't stay on long enough to heat dryer

its either the hi-limit switch is weak on the burner tube,or the gas valve coils on the gas valve are weak and can no longer keep the gas valve open to supply gas,if they appear warm after operation they are most likely bad

Gas dryer dosn't heat properly

The problem is the dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroublevideo.html

I have a maytag dryer, model # MDG4000BWW. It has...

check the high limit/cycling switch thermostat located on the heat housing ,you will need to remove the front panel to access this, then, bypass the high-limit with a jumper wire and see if the flame stays on longer,if this doesn't help, then check the radiant senser on the tube also they get dirty, you can clean the senser eye or bypass this also and see if its weak,if not then replace the 2 gas coil valves on the gas valve body as these will get weak and shut off the gas supply
