Are you sure the socket does not come out from the back ?
The R10 models are just like the C10 models from 1986 and some of them pull out from the back.

There is no Fn-Fx key combination to change screen resolution (at leat on my R10 running Windows XP. Even if you create a shortcut to open the graphics properties you still have to open the relevant tab manually to change resolutions.
You can open the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 for mobile icon on the tray, go to the graphic properties change the resolution and save as a scheme. With a customized scheme defined you will be able to click the Intel Graphic properties and select that scheme. But be careful, your tablet pen will no longer be calibrated with the available screen area.
I tried on my R10 (native resolution 1024x768) and all I could select was 800x600@ 60Hz.

you need the wacom touch screen driver, just go to wacom .com and all i did was download and installed the driver, i run win xp , not tablet version, and after the driver ws installed the table an pen worked 100%,

It may be overheating or you are running too many applications. Try shutting some down from the start up menu.

when it flashs how many times does it flash

are the short or long signals, or mixed both short and long signals together

Try unplugging it from it's power source for ten seconds, then plug it back in. If it doesn't find its way out of the start up screen after 5 minutes, it might be time to replace it.

it might seem that the other user has a limited account and maybe the driver of the pen function is limited only to the administrator.
