Sews backwards..when I press the reverse button it sews forwards

I have a singer ce25o embroidery machine. After adjusting the hook timing my machine sews in reverse when you press the foot pedal and when you press the reverse button it sews forward. Help!!!

Tried that..reversed the adjustment and then adjusted the opposite direction, or should we have moved it the same direction? (very confused) still sewing backwards...Husband thinks it is actually something electrical. the reverse switch is switching backwards.?!?!?! Really weird....

I don't know a lot about that machine as I normally oy work on Berninas. I know on a Bernina you can set the machine to start in reverse. So then since it is already in the reverse mode when you press the reversing button it would then run forward. This sounds completely normal if your model has a switch or setting somewhere where you can set it to start on reverse like you can on a Bernina. You did not say anything about the machine not sewing correctly, just that it goes in reverse when you start out normally. So that makes me think there must be a way that you can set that machine to start up in the reverse mode or in the normal forward mode.It should have nothing to do with hook timing. If your hook timing was off the machine would either produce a bad looking stitch or no stitch at all with a lot of thread jams and thread brakes. Hope this helps. Bill B.

Sounds like you have the timing precisely reversed. Time to try again.

More than likely you need a pneumatic transducer. It's the part that your air tube connects to and that is what actually makes your machine run.

SOURCE: Hand Wheel Won't Turn

The "Bobbin stopper" is in the incorrect position. It moves from side to side in a switch like motion. In one direction, it locks up the machine. That is, you can turn the wheele backwards, but not forward.. The bobbin stopper can be found in the book that cam with the machine. In our book, it is item #9.

SOURCE: Singer sewing machine beeps and wont repond to commands.

Sounds like you may have a blockage somewhere in the bobbin area that needs cleaning as this is normally what happens when it gets jammed. Reverse sewing can sometimes cause jams. Remove bobbin area and reassemble.

SOURCE: My foot pedal started smoking on my Singer 413 Sewing Machine

Hi.

No solution I'm afraid - but it has just happened to me too on a 1975 singer 522 Machine. Like you just switched it off and am now sourcing a new pedal....did have a look inside the pedal but nothing obvious - smells horrible though and will not use until replaced.

How To Reverse Stitch On A Singer Sewing Machine Correctly

Step 1. Press the reverse button

  • Refer to the Singer manual of the specific machine you have
  • Please find the button with the U-shaped arrow, typically at the front of the sewing machine, or check your manual for where it's located
  • Press the reverse stitch button and start sewing

Step 2. Start sewing

  • Hold the material as the sewing machine sews backward and stop it manually by taking your foot off the pedal
  • Deactivate the reverse stitch function by pressing the button again
  • Be careful not to hit the thread plate to avoid bunching
  • If you accidentally press the wrong button, turn off the Singer sewing machine and turn it on again to reset

My heavy duty Singer sewing machine is stuck in reverse. How do I fix it?

If this machine has a mechanical lever or button it may be internal parts have broken and need to be replaced. this is a common issue with lots of machines. The machine breaks when in reverse and will only sew in reverse. Please have a professional look at the machine and make a repair if necessary.

Singer stuck in reverse

Usually it is because someone made a button hole and it is in the 3rd step of the button hole (Step 1 goes forward, Step 2 bartacks the end and Step 3 goes backwards to finish the buttonhole)
Make sure that the machine isn't set on buttonhole and it should begin to sew forward again. Good Luck

open the top of the sewing machine. Then press the button or lever that changes the forward reverse mode. You may find that something got stuck there where it should effect the machine part. May a drop of oil on that spot can help?
