Convergence not lining up

I have had a problem with a green tent on every channel. It is most evident with white text on the screen. Green color will separate from the white text, separates to the right only. On HD channels, the color red will separate and follow the outline of someone's nose or head or arm. On the convergance screen the red and blue line up fine. The vertical green will line up fine with both red and blue. The horizontal green is about a centemter longer than the blue and red causing the white horizontal line to have a green tail. If I move the blue and red to line up with the right side of the green then the left side will have a centemeter of green and the vertical green will be separated from the red and blue. The best I can do is a nice white cross with a centemter of green exposed on the end of the right side of the horizontal line. I have had the green projection tube replaced and 2 internal chips replaced. (I do not know the names of the chips replaced.) The problem has not been fixed and they do not know what else to try. Any advise would be appriciated. I am a little frustrated with the repair shops not knowing what to do for me. thanks...

Sounds like the green is out of focus. If the focus control for the green does not control it enough to make the width the same as the red, then, the lens on top of the green can be adjusted to focus that tube. On the lens, there is a wing nut on a screw to loosen it and move the lens left or right a bit to help with the focus. Hope this helps.

It has tripple vision and looks like a bow tie.

hi, sounds like a convergence issue. try this...
  • Look through your manual. Your manual will always give you the most specific directions for your particular model. Look for an "adjusting convergence" or "set manual convergence" section.

  • Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  • Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  • Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  • Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  • Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  • Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  • Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  • Repeat these steps for all colors.

  • good luck!

I was just given this t.v because friends couldn't figure out what is wrong with itl. The colors don't line up right, looks kinda blurry depending on the lighting of the program being watched. How do i fix...

    According to the manual:
    1) go to the "TV Main Menu"
    2) Select "Screen"
    3) Select Adjust Projection TV (obviously only if a projection TV).
This then allows you to adjust the TV's 3-colors. Selecting GREEN CENTERING brings up a control panel that lets you center the green projection tube on the screen. Selecting RED CONVERGENCE or BLUE CONVERGENCE lets you align the Red & Blue projector tubes. Centre the green projector tube 1st. Then adjust the red & blue until the test pattern on the TV screen appers white.
    Good Luck!

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together convergence repair kits for most models.

The kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, etc. Everything you will need to do the repair yourself.

    Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

    Hitachi 61SDX01B

The problem is called green geometry. There is nothing wrong w/the green pix tube.It is critical to get the green geometry

accurate because the red and blue convergence overlays on

the green. If you have more than an alignment issue, that will need

    repair before adjustments are attempted.
