You may not have to do a repair install, and this will help k4k for sure. When you boot the computer, press F8 a bunch of times. Some computers will beep a bunch, if it does that, just stop pushing F8. When the menu comes up, choose 'safe mode with command prompt'. The computer will then list all files it's loading, and this is normal. After it boots, log in as administrator. You will only see the black cmd window, but that's all we need. Your ultimate goal is to remove the current user password, and we will achieve this by typing:
net user [username] [new password]
Hit enter. Don't type the '[' and ']'. you can leave the new password section blank to remove the password, but it's better to keep a new one for security reasons. User name is the current user.
This may fix the lsass error, or it may not. But it's much easier than a repair install, and will at least be worth a try.
I hope this helps, and good luck!

If you are running XP, try starting in the Safe Mode.
To access this, at AC power on, start tapping the F8 key; this should bring up a short text menu that gives you the Safe Mode option.
If F8 doesn't work, try F5.
If you can get your desktop, open the Start menu, then All programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then System restore.
If you have had your Restore feature turned on (it is by default) you chouls be offered the chance to restore your system to an earlier date.
These will be shown on a calendar in bold if there are earlier backups available
Choose a date a couple of days before your fuse blew.
This restore routine does not lose any work of yours, but essentially checks and replaces corrupt system files and your settings before the roof fell in.
