I would like a replacement scope of equal value or stop selling them.

Had the same problem. Took it to a dealer and we put a new controller on but the funny thing was that my old controller worked fine on another scope but it would not work on mine. Agreed with "Guest" above - Mead's after sales service is bad.

The RA knob has a setscrew that fixes it to the shaft. Just need to find the correct size and tighten.
SOURCE: can't focus my telescope
If there is nothing on the objective lenses or eyepiece lenses then it most likely needs collimation. This is where you adjust the secondary mirror while viewing an out of focus star. You need stable sky conditions to do this.
There are most likely three small screws at the front of the telescope and these are what you use to adjust it. As one screw is loosened then another is tightened. Do this in very small increments. If you have your manual it should outline how to perform this. If not go to this web site: http://www.astrosurf.com/legault/collim.html. It will show examples of how objects look both in and out of collimation. There is a section further down the page for SCTs.
A very handy tool for this is to replace your screws with Bob's Knobs (http://www.bobsknobs.com/) . These replace the screws and allow you to adjust it by hand instead of a screwdriver.
The other focusing problem I've experience with my Celestron SCT is to have the focus knob loosen up and then slip as I turned it so that I could never focus with it.
Good luck and clear skies!

You are missing a screw on cap for the rear port, and you need to buy several 1.25 inch eyepieces.
Scopestuff.com sells the rear port cap also you may be able to get one directly from Meade- http://www.meade.com/support/index.html
Several internet retailers sell 1.25 inch eyepieces.
Here is one:

Testimonial: "Thanks Joe! As it turned out I was also missing the 90 degree eyepiece holder."

I would appreciate an answer to my question above, if there are any solutions for it. I paid over a thousand dollars for it , and had to send it back twice to Meade for repair. The last time they sent me an entirely different scope I believed. When I last talked to Meade it was a guy named Carlos from Mexico and he said just to send it back to Mead for repair. YEA ,SURE The last time I sent it back it cost me $ 100.00 in shipping and insurance, and I think it was even under warranty. I was even a member of a astronomy club, and one member told me he knew someone else who had a XL200GPS like mine, and had similar problems. Can anyone out there please help me with this?
I have a xl200gps 10" scope that quit working. It has power when connected to the power supply, but the only thing that works is the red power light. I have it properly connected to my computer and all of the other connectors are good. The only thing is that it won't accept commands from the autostar suite program that is installed in my computer. The autostar came with the scope, and it did work at one time but it stop working. When I contacted Meade we were told it might be the rs232 port went bad. And they told me to send it back at my expense. Now I think it might be a bad component on the circuit board, but I haven't figured out how to take the front off where all of the jacks are located. Can anybody give me any advise or tell me if somebody in Pennslyvania can look at it. It is just sitting around doing nothing, and I payed to much money for it . Thank You and
