The only thing I would think of is. At the GM dealer ask for a service bulletin for the 2006 Pontiac Torrent if any or look for any changes in body configuration and under the car. Whining noise could be a big puzzle. Need a very good technician in noise problem to find out and very expensive to find if not under warranty.
Hello aboadwine -- You didn't say what year model, but for the 6.7 cummins they didn't change very much.
Here is a link with instructions, even has pretty pictures for you. You will need a good filter wrench, ratchet, & extension...cause they do get tight. I hope this helps... good luck with the Ram.
Go to Autozone/Advanced Auto have them read the code and erase if possible, and see if it reappears.... 50% of the time it will never reappear. If they cant erase it, read up in your OM where it talks about troubleshooting and it should have the reset memory instructions listed. If not, call the dealer and ask them. Usually you have to turn you key to accessory for x seconds, back to off for x seconds and it will reset. You can always disconnect battery for 24 hours and the computer will reset automatically.
Take it back and have the heads redone. Sounds like they left oil seals out or they didn't find a crack in the other head. It is very unusuall for oil to come from the exhaust and not smoke. And if the oil is coming from the exhaust gasket ,then the mechanic also didn't do his job right. This gasket should be tight, no air or anyhting else should be coming from between the engine and exhaust manifold. The never timed it is impossible, as it has to be timed to run. I would probably take it to anoher shop, explain what has gone on, get an estimate to fix it. And demand the other shop pay for it.
On the front you can use an old pad &
4" c-clamp,not so on the rear
It will go back in, if you open the bleeder valve
You have to flush all 4 corners, on all your vehicles,
every 2 years anyway. Didn't know that -right !
Now to your part of the puzzle
Buy a small tool at parts store that looks like a
1 1/4" cube with pins on it
That is to turn in the caliper parking brake feature
inside & behind the pistion you where trying to push on
Push in by hand while turning clockwise with the cube
using a 3/8" extension & ratchet
Once the pads are on ratchet up the parking brake
lever by hand
Now your changing your brake fluids every 2 years
you start doing the power steering & trans EVERY
30,000 Miles,ALWAYS on ALL Vehicles
Sand off ALL rust on caliper & pad abutements &
sliding surfaces & use anti-seize ,or you may as well
not do the job in the first place. The pro don't do that,
but you can do a nice job, so the brakes actually work
I called the car manufacturer listed in the owners manual (2006 Colorado pickup truck, and they didn't know. Roberts Chevy where I bought the truck didn't know either. Does anyone know. It shows up on my message board above the odometer.
