Freon smell coming through vents on 323ibmw

If the defroster is on it will use the air conditioner to pull moisture out of the air before it blows it back on your glass. Prevents condensation. Try turning your heat to just floor or front vents and it see if it still kicks on.

it might need another can, with ac on and controls turned to ac max the compressor should start cycling as the freeon is added. if not you might have a low or high pressure switch that is bad check fuzes incase you blew the fuse for the ac compressor

Could be the ac clutch, a relay, a switch, or a fuse.
Could also still be low on freon unless you are using a gauge.

did you change your hepa filter? Buy ozium and spray in your vents.

personally, due to the legal issues involved in working with freon or suva(r-134a) i would recomend tacking your car to a shop licensed for ac repair, if your smelling the oil in the car i would say it sounds like a leak around the evaperator. i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this can be a pricey problem to fix, but its better than the jail time and fines that can be associated with doing it improperly. sorry i couldnt have better news

does the ac clutch kick on? does the car have freeon? u will have to take it to autozone and let them use a scan tool

Check for ac low pressure switch gone bad.If the expansion valve goes bad it will cause that problem,also, make sure there is enough freon in system.If you could get some one to put ac gauges on the vehicle you could tell a lot about the system,It would tell if the low side was too low(bad expansion valve)or if it was too high on the low side or high side (bas expansion valve or block dryer or condenser.

could be expansion vavle is stuck,the bad smell
if it smells like chemical smell could be freon leak
in ac core or if smell is like mould its dirt rotting leaves etc in air intake, remove grill under wipers and vacuum out.

my suggestion would be to go to another shop,most likely the freon is low,pressure should be measured on the high side and low side, a fully charged system should read 125 to 135 high 25-30 low and these pressure will either rise or fall with ambient temp and humidity but not drastically,you also may have an engine oil leak causing that smell,it may also be possible that the a/c belt is slipping,if the freon 134a is leaking the repair shop may install a leak dye in the system to aid in tracking small leaks this is a good investment good luck

I have the same problem in my 2011 sonata and i finally figured out where its coming from, its inside the doors! Put your window down and then smell the top of the door where the window slides down in...its so gross....its been making me sick to my stomach!
