The pool has a hayward booster pump but don't know the brand of main pump & motor.
SOURCE: pool pump won't prime
check for air leaks, cover o-ring is common culprit. anything in front of pump can cause this.
SOURCE: Pool pump won't prime. Impeller replaced, worked
sounds like a priming problem. look at the check valve in front of the pump in the suction line. sounds as if it is loosing its prime so you don't have enough water close enough to the pump to get it primed.
SOURCE: I have a Pentair Intelliflo pump system and lately
Your pipe could be clogged or you may have a clog in the impeller. Check the pump basket and if it is cracked then it is probally in the impeller and you may be able to reach it with a screwdriver and needlenose. If you have a crack in the skimmer basket it could be in the line and you can check this by putting a kitchen sponge in the skimmer and if it comes out in the pump the line is clear. If it is clogged you may be able to clear it with a flush bag you can get at any hardware store. If that dosn't do it you will need to get a pro. Good luck.
SOURCE: only one pool return is working, there is no
With the pump off and the basket out reach inside the pump with some needlenose pliers and see if something is clogging the impeller. It will be inside the hole behind the pump basket and will feel spongey when you reach in there. If so work it counter clockwise and when it loostens up pull it out with the pliers. Hope this helps.
