Maytag Neptune washer model #MAH4000AWW, Press start botton starts filling then shuts off after a few seconds. Move to spin it begins draining then shuts off after a few seconds
I infer from neptune_dude's last posting that I can get a new motor conversion kit at www.neptunewaxmotor.com, this is not true. This kit is for the machine control board problem/wax motor problem. My motor control board has scorch marks on it including a blown out 8pin IC. Also my washer is actual the mah4000

Push the start button and water starts to fill tub. Water runs for about 15 seconds and then machine shuts down. Can hit start button again and it will do the same thing. Rotate the timer knob and it will pump the water out, but will do nothing else.

Followed the Drive system diagnostic Test - motor runs and spinner rotates - just guesssing at the 50 rpm, but looks about right.Followed the Drive system diagnostic Test - motor runs and spinner rotates - just guesssing at the 50 rpm, but looks about right.

two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news
its your pump.get at it thru the back.it may be blocked or may have failed.a volt meter will tell you if its getting voltage.if so should drain, make sure on about spin setting to check.ive had to replace the pump on my neptune
Most likely the motor control unit, the MCU controls the timer (loop circuit). Best way to check is to just pull the MCU out and visually inspect it for burned components, although it is not always visible. You may need to make some involved voltage readings to verify.
My Maytag® Neptune® washer filled with water, but it won't spin or drain-what now?
Start by making sure the machine is plugged into a live (working)
electrical outlet. Then check the appropriate circuit breaker and reset
it if necessary (or check the fuse if you have a fuse box).
Next, inspect the drain hoses and remove any kinks. Take a look at the
drain, too - if it's clogged, call your usual drain service person.
Then close the washer door and firmly press the START/STOP button. In a
few moments, after the door locks, the washer should begin to spin.
(For your safety, the washer will not tumble or spin unless the door is
closed and locked.)

Check out your motor control board near the floor on the right side. These have a high failure rate on the Neptunes. Maytag redesigned both the motor and motor control board to be more reliable. While inspecting this board, you are looking for a blown 10 amp fuse and /or burnt components. If you have either... then you will need the the new motor conversion kit which includes the motor, motor control board and the wire harness.
Don't forget to see the info on the website regarding the defective door latch wax motor that will eventually fail and damage your machine control board.
