It turns over and starts but as soon as I go to go up a hill
there is no real power to speak of. It moves at a sluggish pace. no matter how fast i'm going it moves at a very slow pace

No , if fuel filter were clogged it would cause a lack of power all the time . Have exhaust ( catalytic converter ) checked . Partially plugged , well get worst .

It will lack lots of power going up hill, especially if its a really steep one and you keep it in drive. Make sure you downshift to second, or fist if its really steep.
Hey, maybe the engine is just too small for big hill's :) but u can try to chance air filter and fuel filter and overlook the spark plugs (when it's a petrol engine)
could be alot of thing kia's a/c draind alot of horse power ,plus going up hill.try turn of a/c on hills.thats the owner of 3 kia's opinion . engine lacks power obstructed exhaust ,catylitic converter. defective plugs and or wires. fuel injection needs cleaned , air filter ,automatic transaxle fluid to much or to little and last my favorite the emmision control system . these are just the main culprits . only you can be the judge of how steep the hills are and how bad the power loss is
my 01 did that and it was the plug wires it bucked real bad
next time it happened it was just sluggish up hills and light would come on. it was the fuel filter it had 255,000 miles on it
I had similar problem with mine replaced the air flow meter and gave it a oil change and before putting oil back in I put 3 litres of auto transmission oil in it and ran in on full idle for 15mins drained that and then oil. This was from the advice of my dad who is a mechanic.
