If this an under the counter ice maker the machine is going to run water all the time with the exception of when the ice slides down to the cutting grid to be dropped.

SOURCE: Ice maker leaks water into Ice bend. When it cycles I can watch it drip water from the ice maker.

not familuar with the brand but sounds like one of 2 issues
if it is overfilling making ice cubes larger than normal, adjust the ice maker fill time if it is possible
icemaker fills and cuts off but water valve seeps water after the fill causing the water overfill

SOURCE: Icemaker is not making ice

check the fill tube on the ice maker to see if its frozen upo. if it is you are going to need a new solinoid valve due to it leaking thru the valve and freezing up.

SOURCE: ice maker not working ; water dispenser ok

The reason could be several different possibilities. the water control valve for the ice maker no longer works or one of the many components inside the ice maker is needing replace or adjusted. Go to link below and enter model ED5VHGXM into model search. Click on photo #12 ice maker and you get a breakdown of of all the parts. Let me know, Sea Breeze

I have a whirlpool side by side w/ice and water thru the door.model#ED5JHEXTQ00.WATER THRU THE DOOR WORKS FINE BUT WILL NOT FILL ICE MAKER.ANY SUGGESTIONS ?...

Note that the temperature in the freezer must be below 10 degrees F for the icemaker to cycle. The icemaker line is the smaller line (1/4") located in the back of the machine that runs from the valve to the filll tube. To test the valve and icemaker you have to manually advance the ice maker and wait for it to call for water with the 1/4" line disconnected from the valve. You can do this by getting a jumper wire, removing the cover of icemaker, which you jsut grab and pull off, and using the jumper wire insert one end of the wire into the cirle marked "M" and the other in the cicle marked "N". Leave there until you hear a click and sometimes see a little spark behind the modular head wheel. Also if you see ice in the maker that hasn't dumper and the teeth of the icemaker are facing any direction other than two o clock position, the icemaker is bad. Before doing any of the above though check the fill tube to be sure the no ice is blocking water from coming in.

pull off cover in front of icemaker, there should be 2 hole under big gear labeled t and the other labeled h, jump those 2 with an insulated jumper wire, icemaker should run through complete cycle, pull out jumper wire at about 11 oclock on big gear, if goes through complete cycle and fills with water, ice maker is good, if not replace ice maker

Whirlpool IceMagic Plus not working.

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps the ice but doesn't refill , replace the ice maker . If it doesn't dump , and the cubes stay in the ice maker , replace the ice maker .

The switch on the icemaker for normal , runs the icemaker normaly . In the ice plus , a small fan comes on , blowing the inside air , over the ice maker mold , to help it freeze faster .

Icemaker not producing ice

you need to troubleshoot the problem, if the wire arm that tells the ice maker to stop making ice when full is in the upright position the ice maker will not make ice. the problem has to be either the switch on this arm malfunction. but probably in MOST cases it is your electronic water valve which has gone out. this is located on the water supply line on the back of the fridge at the bottom probably behind some cardboard or plastic. it is the same kind of water valve as a dishwasher uses, if it malfunctions it will not deliver water to your tray, manually fill the tray and put the arm down, if the maker dispenses the ice out of the tray, chances are your electronic valve is broken.

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

Whirlpool Ice Maker Won't release ice

Jetguy77,

I have a 1993 year (16 years old now) Whirlpool side-by-side with icemaker, Model ED22PW. I have had similar problems with the icemaker - water goes in, freezes, but ice does not eject from tray. It has happened to this unit 2 times since 1993. It turns out the problem is not the thermostat. It is the icemaker motor module. The icemaker has a small synchronous (clock) motor that rotates the ice ejector. When it goes bad, the ejector does not rotate, either because the module timer had failed or the motor itself has failed. The solution is to go to your nearest applinace parts dealer and by a new "icemaker motor module" for Whirlpool Model (your model here). Mine cost $58.85 the last time I replaced it in 2006. To install the new module, you will need to remove the icemaker from the refrigerator. Mine has 3 screws that attach it to the side. Also unplug the power & control cable. The water tube slides out when you pull the unit forward. When you get it out, it is then easy to remove the motor module and insert the new one. You may have to reset the timer on the module to get the tray to fill completely.
