In 2008 Johnny Medrano - Level 2 Expert gave an answer to this but did not give any direction as to where the AC pad was located. I've found directions for other Timex watches but NOT the Rush. There is an arrowhead on a red label but I cannot resolve what it points to. The label: AFTER BATTERY INSERTION - SHORT AC PAD AND BATTERY (+) TO RESET
If you take a jeweler's lupe near where the arrow is you will see the word "reset" in the plastic.
There is a deep hole in the plastic with contacts below. That is the reset, and that is why you must use very sharp pointed tweezers to make contact with the back of the battery.
I think if you do not have sharp tweezers, you can probably put a sewing pin down the hole, and then connect with a small screwdriver to the back of the battery..
I have a x10 magnifier which reveals no sign of 'reset'. I've taken a close-up pic of the watch but as yet do not know how to post it or what size jpg. I am wondering if the battery might be the problem as what I thought to be unused is giving a very low reading. I've sent for a new one. Lastly, I'm very grateful for your input.
I have a Timex Digital Heart Rate Monitor 585 (product code T5C351F5)m, which has the same Short AC Pad and battery +ve message. There is an arrowhead pointing to the pad. It's a raised metal platform - a bit different to some of the Ironman's mentioned above. Here is a pic...
The Rush watch is nothing like the T5C351F5 pictured and has no similar raised metal pad. also as I wrote no lettering indicating 'reset pad'. I'm still hoping it's just a battery problem. There is a gold rectangle on the PCB in the area the arrowhead points to but, at present, if the batter's no good I can't expect it to work even if it is the correct pad.
In spite of the message about shorting to the AC pad on the battery covering clip this proved totally unnecessary. Provision of a decent battery was the only requirement

SOURCE: Replaced battery, now no beep.
