Ir 6570 copy light

When you were replacing the drum did you tuch the drum surface?Best would be that you take some toner on piece of cloth, and polish the drum, while turning it in good direction, that the cleaning blade can clean it.After you must let it copy about 50 copies.

You can try to replace the whole drum unit cexv14, or clean the laser unit.

Also could it be that the toner unit, or toner cleaning blade are not properly distibutes the toner accross the developing/toner cylinder

I have a Brother 2170W printer. Worked well for years but suddenly had some blank columns down the center. Took it to a repair shop and they said it needed a new drum and printer. I purchased and installed...

Hi Len,

Thankyou for explaining you problem to me, it makes life a little easier when you have no hands but are equiped with the facts.

I too would normally think Drum/Toner or Carona but it seems you have covered those, the carona is in the drum but if you switch the drum and the marks dont change then that cant be the issue. Here is a LINK to the carona cleaning instructions and below I'll past a pic of the carona position.

If a good Brother branded toner doesn't fix it, and you have fitted a new sealed brother original drum and that doesn't fix it, there are only two possible things left, one is the fuser at the rear that melts the toner to the paper but I doubt that one because it usally leaves lumpy marks on paper surface, but you could get a touch and look at the two width of the machine rollers at the rear and see if the coating has come off the teflon roller.

What I think is your issue is there is toner dust on the laser lens, it is a **** 1-2cm wide running width of machine, it resides inside the machine about midway directly above carona slot, get a soft cloth and wipe the lens.

Let me know if the lens clean does the trick, otherwise it must be 2 lots of faulty toner but the image would change or two dirty carona's/worn drums but once again image would at least change.

Make sure you reset the drum counter, heres a (link) to how

Cheers Steve

How do i clean carona wire

For a photocopier to work, a field of positive charges must be generated on the surface of both the drum and the copy paper. These tasks are accomplished by the corona wires. These wires are subjected to a high voltage, which they subsequently transfer to the drum and paper in the form of static electricity.

Printing problems

Hi there check that it isn't the drum unit by turning the machine off open the top cover remove the toner and underneath you will have the dev unit unplug and lift out then remove the transfer tray (the one you open if there is a jam) open side door remove waste tank then you have the drum unit now to remove there is either a push button or a screw do either one that corresponds and check the unit. If there is a black line on one side the only way to get rid of the line is to replace the cleaning blade as this has worn. you can clean the drum unit cleaning blade it may only be toner stuck under the blade all you have to do is rotate the drum the opposite way of operation and if you have to hand a air line just give it a blast failing this it will defently need replacing.

Hope this is of some help

Monroe 946 copier

The drum cleaning blade is located in the drum unit and is very much like a windshield wiper blade on your car and even has the same function. It cleans the drum of toner residue after each copy is made. A positive test to see if the drum blade is worn is to make two or three copies of an original and if the streaks are worse on the second copy and worse still on the third copy, then you can be fairly certain that your drum blade is bad and needs changing. Not a simple task, probably best left to a technician. You can do some serious damage to the drum if you're not careful. If the test that I described indicated that the drum blade isn't bad, then the next most common problem is a worn heat roller in the fuser. Not an easy thing to replace either. You can check this by making a copy and stop the machine just as the copy just reaches the exit rollers of the machine. After removing the copy, you can see that part of the copy has been through the fuser, the part of the machine that gets hot, and part has not reached the fuser. If the lines are on the copy that has passed through the fuser, but aren't there on the part of the copy that hasn't reached the fuser, then you can be sure that the lines are caused by the fuser roller.

Let me know if this helps.

Aloha,
Bill Monroe
