SOURCE: How do I fit a new belt to a Whirlpool AWZ650?

Found this dead easy, take top off and back off. Inside undo the star shaped screws, there are also a few screws that are a different shape when removed, these secure the back to an air inlet. Suggest you take note of where the screws come from, even write a number next to the hole with a marker pen and note which screws and in what order. There is also an earth attached to the drum, this is the only wire I removed. Take this back section off. You should then be able to remove the drum by wiggling it out and turning it sideways in the dryer casing. Then remove the fan bottom left, 4 screws and a clip in the centre, the clip was difficult to remove without spreading it so you may need to squeeze it back into shaped before putting it back on. The tensioners will probably have come out of their locators so put them back into place, this is easy to see when you look at them. This is proabably a good time to vacum any dust out. Spread the tensioners hook the belt over the drive shaft only, not the tensioners, and let them spring back, these will then spread when the belt stretches around the drum. Put the drum back on and pull the belt around it, make sure its lined up with the original belt markings otherwise it will just pull the belt off of the drive shaft. Put all the screws back in attache the earth to the drum and put the back on then the top on. I'm not a technician and haven't done this before, it took about 1 1/2hrs.

SOURCE: whirlpool electric dryer tub won't turn. Belt is

if you are hearing loud buzzing or loud humming when start switch is engaged,u have 2 possibilities:1. a bad motor. 2.something hindering the motor's ability to turn.most likely cause of this is usually something caught in the blower housing, preventing motor from turning

SOURCE: have to replace broken belt on a whirlpool awz

Double the belt and slide it between the two arms of the tension pulley. Then slip the belt over the drive motor pulley. The belt will be pushing against the tension pulley from underneath.

Change belt on washing machine

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

If your drum is not turning, dryer belts are rubber and dry rot. It will be obvious if the belt is broken. When installing a new belt make sure you turn the drum counter clockwise. If you do not it will come off the drive pulley. Broken dryer belts are common.

However, if your dryer belt is fine, then you either have a bad drive pulley or drive pulley contact switch preventing your drum from turning.

My dryer wont stay on if I push the start button it turns on and heats up but once I let go of the button it sits of rite away.

what's the brand name and model number,if it's a kenmore or whirlpool and says even heat with the lint filter inside most likely a bad even heat computer board or the motor relay both are up in the top console,if it's a g.e. you have a broken belt switch, there's a switch down next to the motor and belt pulley,it's just a cherry switch,it has a button that sticks out of the switch that hits the belt pulley,if the belt breaks then the dryer will only run when the start button is pushed in but the switch can break causing the same problem, also on the newer whirlpool it also can be a broken belt, good luck with your dryer

Dryer won't spin

Someone is going to have to get inside to see if the belt (it should have one around the drum) is broken or the motor that drives it is seized, etc.

Need to see if drum turns and if too freely my money would be the belt.

Inglis clothes dryer heats up but drum doesn't

The way to visually see if the belt has broken or not is to 1) unplug the dryer. 2) Remove the lint screen on the top of the dryer. 3) take the two phillips head screws out where the lint trap is. 4) with a flat head screwdriver pop the top of the dryer up by sliding the driver inbetween the top and front of the dryer and pry upwards a little. 5) You'll now see the drum, if the belt is not around it its broken, and if it's visible try to lift it. If it taught, its good. IF THE BELT IS BROKEN OR LOOSE CONTINUE TO NEXT STEPS 6) on the left and right upper inner sides of the dryer you will find two screws, one on each side, remove these and the front should be easlily remove. 7) once off you'll be able to easily see the motor, the belts idler pulley, and everything else.

My kenmore electric dryer turns on and heats but the drum doesn't turn?

that would be a broken belt, or the motor, I say belt. You will need to open the top of the dryer and look in the middle of the drum for a belt, which is not there I am sure, here are some websites,Tim:

Dryer belt broken

This is a pretty simple DIY repair that can save you a bunch of money by not calling a repairman to do it for you. Here's a comprehensive how-to video showing how it is done on a Whirlpool dryer.

Your brand dryer may be different - but should have a very similar belt replacement procedure. If you'd rather see a video for your brand / model, have a look here for available belt replacement videos.

I hope this helps & good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you.

DRUM NOT MOVING ON WHIRLPOOL ELEC DRYER

the belt is off or broken, changing the belt yourself can be tricky, you must remove the front bulkhead and door/panel assy, then you have to route the belt correctly from th motor to the belt tensioner, you may want to call a tech.
