I guess I need to purchase a new cap that goes over the pins. Mine is missing and my door unlocks when the lock button is pushed,

It is the Weiser Lock Powerbolt 1000 Lock.

I have installed your Powerbolt, but when I push the Lock Button, it unlocks? What should I do?
First remove the cover on the inside of the Powerbolt unit. On the right hand side under the batteries, you will notice that is says "Door Direction Jumper". If the cap is mounted on Prongs 1 & 2, carefully remove it and move it over so that it mounts Prongs 2 & 3. A is right handed, B is left handed.

  • Remove the inner cover plate from the lock.
  • Locate the small round reset button near the left side of the circuit board (Red or Black).
  • To program, press the reset button once, then enter your 4-8 digit code on the exterior keypad, then immediately press the middle lock button on the exterior keypad. You will hear a beep. This signals that your code has been accepted.
  • To enter a second code, follow the same procedures as in step 3, but this time press the reset button twice then enter your code.

your may just need a new battery. im not familiar with that model but the one i had would blink the lights when the batt was low.

The lock button in the middle unlocks the unit and the code to unlock it is what actually locks it... how do I fix this?

the weiser set should have a tiny hole in the knob or rosette around the knob. A paperclip or such can be pushed into the hole to unlock the door. That is the primary difference between a privacy lock and a security lock. Farmerbear at FixYa

I installed a weiser smartcode lockset and the motor is turning the wrong way. How do we fix this?
2 important things which may seem dumb but solved my problem:

- Make sure that once everything is in place, you hold the lock button before inserting battery pack (and keep holding the lock button) until you hear 2 beeps. The latch should come and go.

- Last but not least, make sure you put NEW batteries in... I had old batteries and when i tried it seemed like is was working but could not finish the door direction finding sequence stated above. Make sure they are new and it should work!

Brought door with lock locks when u push lock
You might not be pushing the correct sequence of buttons to unlock the door. You should only have to enter in your code to unlock the door, unless there was a problem when the lock was programmed.

Here's a copy of the user manual so you can verify the codes were entered properly and that the lock is set up correctly.
