Honda generator 3000is power output problem

I have a Honda 3000is and last week I connected an air conditioner to it that has been used many times with this generator before with no problems. (Does not exceed 15 amps or 2000 watts) When I plugged the AC unit in I heard a noise from the generator and even thought the Honda was running it was wobbling side to side and will now not put out any power. I was not using the eco-throttle at the time and the main 5 amp fuse is not blown. The panel reset does not work either. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Honda EU3000is generator will not start with electric starter.

I'd say your battery in the generator is going bad or bad. They are very small and do not hold a charge for very long. The noise you heard was probably the starter shaft hitting the flywheel cogs. I doubt any harm was done as long as you did not repeatedly try to start it with the key. Why Honda put a battery in these is because they are intended for use in a campground setting, where they would be used on a daily basis and the battery would constantly charged. Whereas people like us buy them for emergencies only, they sit for long periods, and the battery goes flat, and the fuel clogs the carb and we get the surging issue. That's my 2 cents. When I brought mine home new, I Sta-bil'd the heck out of the gasoline, this past winter, on start-up, the unit surges. Of course the battery was flat.

SOURCE: Battery in a honda 3000is

The battery is behind one of the end plastic casing pieces. You have to remove the center plastic panel, then remove the bolts holding the handle in place, and then remove the small, lower metal panel. I don't remember if it is on the side where the exhaust opening is or not, I believe it is on that same side.

SOURCE: honda eu 6500 gen overload indicator light will not shut off

Check the Ground Fault Indicator circuit breaker for triping, and look for the high limit on generator. Reset the main breaker by triping it full right and then back. Vitally

SOURCE: Need more amperage from generator.

No! The two receptacles are already connected together where they take power from the generator. Two are provided so that you can plug in two items, but the total power must not exceed the rating of the generator.

SOURCE: my 13hp honda generator won't run.I have cleaned

You cleaned the fuel bowl? Was there any dirt, etc, in it? How does the fuel line look? How about the bottom of the fuel tank? How old is the fuel?

From your description, it 'sounds' like a fuel system problem. If it's a Honda EU3000is, it has Electronic Ignition, and electronic ignition usually just goes out all the way, not slowly.

The fuel line is small, and easily obstructed. Does fuel flow when the fuel line is removed from the carburetor? After the generator starts, runs, then dies, remove the float bowl. How much gas is present?

Observe the float. See if it's in good repair.
Check the float needle. See if the rubber (Neoprene) tip is squished, or is still in good shape.
Could be that when gas fills the float bowl, the float raises, then gets stuck in the up position, cutting off the gas flow.

Why can't i run my a/c with honda 3000is generator

This generator will run an a/c unit up to 13500 btus and is good for 2800 watts. This is a small generator, the nameplate rating numbers need to jive before overloading the energy supply.

Honda 3000is runs great on eco but hesitates and either stops the load source or stops running itself when under load.

Sounds like the throttle control motor is not adjusting the engine speed to compensate for the load. Does the generator rev up to full speed if you turn OFF eco with NO load?
Funny thing, I have one on my workbench that is doing pretty much the same thing. Runs on eco, revs up with eco off with no load, coughs, sputters and dies with a load in either mode. I will update with what I find when I figure it out in the next week or so. Have a new carb on order.

I swapped the carb and it made no difference. Still backfiring (rather dramatically) and won't stay running. I see on some other posts that Valve lash will cause this. It makes total sense as the exhaust valve gap actually tightens as the engine wears which would keep the exhaust valve slightly open when it ain't supposed to be allowing raw fuel to enter the muffler.
With this one I can believe it as it has a ton of hours on it and I know they have never been adjusted.
I will try to get a chance to do it over the weekend and update this post when I do.

Honda EU 3000is only runs on half choke

Overhaul the carb. When you have to choke it to run, there is not enough fuel getting in

I have a Honda 3000IS generator that only produces ~50 volts from the 30A receptacle--the other receptacles work fine, as does everything else on the machine. How do I get full voltage out of this...

I would guess that this uses both of the 15 amp breakers to make the 30 amp circuit. Try carefully measuring the voltage at the back of the 30 amp outlet after pulling it out. You may have a bad socket. look at how it's wired behind the panel too and see if there are wires from the other sockets to this one. If so, check all connections between them. If you still can't figure it out, try to get a picture of the panel and the wiring behind it and send it to [email protected]

I have a 3000is not starting. Has gas spark oil.

Use fresh gas! Dont just pour some on top of the old...Change it out.

Drain the carb bowl (Honda carbs have a drain screw slightly off-center of the bowl bottom).

The Honda EU3000is uses a vaccuum-operated fuel pump and old gas will ruin it also.

Take the fuel supply line off the carb inlet, direct it in a container and spin the engine over. It should pump a stream that is FULL LINE DIAMETER.

If still no start, take it to an AUTHORIZED Honda Power Equipment Dealership.
Find one here.

Hope this helps.

My trace inverter SW2512 will only allow pass through power.

First problem is caused by the new generator producing too high a frequency... 65 Hertz is above the inverter limit. Adjust the governor down to 60 or 61 Hertz.
Breaker tripping may be due to excessive current draw from the Honda. Check the max AC input menu on the inverter. It might have been set lower to avoid overloading the original generator but if DC power was turned off at any time while you were changing generators, the inverter would have returned to it's default settings which may exceed the Honda's capacity.

Run ac off of generator.

you need to use a volt meter and test which lead from the 4 wire output of the generator a 220 v is coming out.

the round center prong of the ac is its ground and should not be connected to any live power. it could be left unused.

tnx 4 using fixya,
