Connect Kyocera Mita FS-1010 to Macbook (OS X 10.5)

How can I connect my older Kyocera Mita FS-1010 (with a parallel port) to a Macbook with Mac OS X 10.5.6 which doesn't have a parallel port, but ony 2 USB ports?

I tried with a MANHATTAN PRODUCTS Parallel to USB Cable, but apparently, that won't work with Mac OS X (Windows only, apparently). The result is, when I try to print, it says "Printer offline".

I then tried using a print server (installed the printer with Gutenprint driver), trying it via System Config, and also via CUPS, but all to no avail. All that happens when I try to print is a prompt saying "Network host is busy, trying again in XX seconds".

The printer works, I tried it with the same MANHATTAN Parallel to USB Cable on a Windows PC.

Is there any solution?

There is a tricky way to it with the cable you have... consult link or you can just by a printserver that connects usb to ethernet... consult compusa on best print server... or your local pc depot

Just bought a Kyocera FS-1030D laser printer. what do i need to do or need to connect it to my laptop. have power cable but no disks

I looked up the specs this has a usb 2.0 interface so you need a usb printer cable. it has a parallel interface but this is an older technology and your computer most likely does not have a parallel port.
you need to download the driver see http://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.eu/index/service/dlc.false.driver.FS1030D._.EN.html
windows os may have a driver already.

My printer prints 1/3 part of the document. Even when I disconnect and print a self test print using the green button it still does the same. What could be the problem? I do I solve it? I am worried.

The problem is with interface cable. Remove the cable and connect it again. Change the ports while connecting the cable and try to print the document. If this does not work, please visit kyocera mita site and contact the dealer for rectification.

Hi, I have a problem with my Kyocera FS-3900DN. The display shows the fault 7410:0043899. How can I fix it? Thanks

Will just reflashing the firmware fix this?

I have replaced the EEPROM (as per my post near the top) on a few of these, so that the printer will come to ready and then flashed the EEPROM via parallel port with upto firmware.

Kyocera FS 920 won't talk to Mac OS 10.4

try this tutorial or this one and keep one thing in mind there is a generic print driver that mac can install this often works just as good as the one from the manufacturer

Kyocera 3820n doesn't work right on my macbook OS X 10.5

if you have a mac os x operating system... you already have drivers built into your mac printer menu... try installing the generic print driver and see if that helps... sometimes it works better than the manufacturer's driver...

Kyocera Mita FS 1010 every few days it prints out all the pages

Format the harddrive, or go to the properties and change the setting that says leave copy on the harddrive, if all this not working try to initialize the memory and you will be fine.
double check on the driver properties check if it says direct printing or it keeps any copy on the machine.

Regards

Connect kyocera fs680 to laptop

it depends on what laptop you have. the fs680 only has a parallel connection so your laptop needs to have a parallel port or you need a usb to parallel converter.

Network printing problem

Hi,

A couple of possibilities you can try:
1. Use the installer CD on the other 2 PCs as well. When prompted, instruct installer that the printer is on a network; and/or
2. Use the parallel connection instead of the USB (or the other way around); and/or
3. Un-check the auto turn-off of USB devices in the Power Management tab of the USB Root Hub Properties.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
