HDMI interface issues

I have a JVC HD-70G886 being fed an HDMI signal from a DIRECTV H20 unit. All was well until a power outage. When everything was turned back on the picture looked like it was trying to search between formats (480,720,1080). HDMI reset performed on the JVC (was showin NG9) all ok after reset. Still showing same symptoms. Reset DIRETV box no change. replaced DIRECTV box with other H20 from other room (connected to MAXENT plasma and working) still same problem. THis has happened before and was cleared with JVC reset and DIRECTV reset. But will not clear now. Any Ideas?

If you swapped directv receivers and the problem followed to a different tv then there is something wrong with the directv receiver. Need to run satellite setup again on this receiver to fix. repeat satellite setup is accessible through the setup submenu by pressing menu from the directv remote. look under satellite submenu once in setup

Bought new sony bravio blue ray dvd player hooked to hdmi port changed inout to digital one then tried changing port and trying in digital 2. same symptom on both sound perfect but no picture of any kind....

There are three only three possibility's here, one there is a problem with the HDMI HOOK UP ON THE BACK OF THE TV, SECONDLY IT COULD BE THE DVD PLAYER IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THAT TV, AND LASTLY YOU MIGHT NEED TO HAVE THE TV SERVICED FOR SYSTEM ISSUES

I get flashing green on my screen when the hdmi cable is hooked up. This only happens after a power outage. How do I reset it?

usually you need to plug the HDMI connection back in, and power everything up. Then using the menu, set the HDMI connection, back, to whatever you wish, often it is efficacious, to have the alternate unit already plugged into the set. It may also pay to reset your TV set, back to defaults.

Is this TV HD capable?

This is not an HDTV. However, that does not mean you cannot use it to view the HD channels with DirecTV, you just wont be able to view them in hi-def. Use the component inputs from the directv tuner and plug those into the proper component inputs of your JVC. Once you see the DirecTV picture on the screen, go into menu... setup (with the directTV remote) and make sure that the only resolution checked is 480i. DirecTV with 'downconvert' those cannels to standard def, and they will still look pretty good though the component connection...

... now, in answer to your next question: "What exactly do I need to view HDTV with DirecTV?"...

1. A television that will accept 720p or 1080i signals.
2. A DirecTV HD Tuner.
3. Any DirecTV service BUT you must purchase the HD pack so that they will 'unlock' the HD channels
4. The proper cables to hook in between your DirecTV HD receiver and your HD-capable TV/Monitor. You may use either HDMI or component video cables, so long as your TV will accept them. Tune your TV input accordingly. When using component video cables, you must also run a separate cable(s) for audio...

Take care,
Rob

ps. DirecTV HD tuners do not have an RF 'out'. ("coaxial or ch3/4 connection")
