Printing blotchy I just changed the cartridge, and it gave me a message when I was done, but now I dont' remember what it said exactly. It was something about it failed the printout. When I printed the test page, it has blues and blacks and grays but no colors. Since then, I put in the color cartridge, but it doesn't offer the opportunity to print the test page again and it still prints one line fine, then the next line only has the top half printed, then it will print two lines fine. I'm a court reporter and am trying to get this transcript to the lawyers this morning. Can you please advise? Thanks. TStephens

Reinstall both cartridges again and close housing, if it does not print test page turn off the printer and wait a few seconds and turn it back on.

CanonP170-PH calculator gives blotchy printing of numbers. is there a cleaning command or how best can we get clearer numbers ptinting ?

My experience of this type of printer is minimal. I have two desk calculators and neither have a cleaning programme.

Blotchy or smudged printing could indicate worn mechanism, worn print head or over or under inking. Cleaning the printhead and replacing the ink cartridge might work.

I suggest you read the manual...

Printing is very light and spotty

this is a thermal printer... no ink cartridge... I'm having the same problem... light blotchy printing. Found a users manual online that suggests changing the batteries. On my way to purchase 6 AA batteries to see if this solves the problem.

Blotchy prints

First, make sure your print cartridges are aligned by going to your printer software and printing out an alignment page. Secondly, adjust your printer software/properties to make sure your printing to your best photo quality. Third and most important, make sure you have the right kind of printer paper, which is probably the main reason that your page is blotchy.

Another reason its blotchy would be if the printer was not a good one.

Bad printing quality

when the print window opens, click on properties, make sure it's not set to "Quick", which can cause light and blotchy prints.

Balck printing

Go into the properties for the printer (right click on the printer icon in the printers/faxes folder or the control panel and select properties). From there you can tell it to print in color, black and white, or gray scale. (You may have to go into the printing preferences option, I can't remember exactly where but somewhere in the properties is that option).
