Battery charging my exlim z8 has a prob and wont charge. The battery charger keeps flashing red. Please can you help. I have hardly used the camera.

This is a old post, But the prob is/was your Battery if defective.

I have had the same problem twice now and Casio has sent me 2 new batteries. The 3rd battery is now doing the same thing. My advice...don't buy this camera.

Hi I am Vortah The red light is usually an indicator that the battery is charged however in this instance as you are saying it isn't the battery has possibly gone short and you will need to replace the batteries . They have a type of internal memory and only charge a certain amount of times before they no longer accept charge and merely overheat during charging .. But I have to say it may be possible the charger is faulty as if the internal rectifier that charges the battery has gone short that may also bring the red light on in some chargers .. so try the battery or as I would do take it along to your nearest dealers and get them to check it . it may save you money in the long run you could be buying a battery you still cant use when you actually need a charger .. I had the same problem. I had a 1 year warranty, so I called 1800-435-7732 and they sent me a new battery within 5 days. I just received it today and it works perfectly. Hope this helps you! =]

i have same camera.. but i dont think this is a problem.. while charging light keep flash.. when it completes charging it shows u solid red light..

This camera not charged via PC, you can charge the battery only with wall charger(comes with box).When camera is plugged to PC, you can´t use it as a camera, only as a memory card.You can watch your stuff in PC( PC recognise a camera as a flash memory, no more).

So, this is normal..Charge your camera with wall charger(Full charge Red light not flash!, if light flashed camera is charging) Unplug and use as usually!

If the charge lamp flashes red it means the battery is faulty or the battery is loaded in the charger incorrectly. Take the battery out and check if the contacts are dirty - wipe them with a dry cloth and try charging again. If the error continues, you have a faulty battery and need to buy a new one. You may find it cheaper elsewhere, but these guys include delivery. Hope that helps.

sounds like a dead battery. Plug the origional charger into it and the front led (below the flash) should flash red. If the red led in the back of the camera flashes or stays lit, then you have the wrong charger plugged in. (the camera won't power up if the back red/green led is on when plugged in)

Could be battery or charger. 1. Buy new battery. Still in trouble? 2. Get new charger Its good to have two batteries
